F2P proved that the last version of the automated mute system was indeed stupid in that it issued punishments if you got 2 reports in 2 games in 48 hours, no questions asked.

No matter what kind of penalty that valve come up with, no matter what kind of solution, there are always people abusing the system.
Abuse can be minimized significantly with player review of reports.

Mute system is definitely not perfect and could use some more adjustment but it is highly necessary. You guys as a community should learn how to communicate with the others better rather than whining to valve and asking valve to fix everything for you.
Actually, almost nobody asked for the automated mute system in the first place. It was never a "common suggestion," nor was it ever a "DO NOT OPEN NEW THREAD ABOUT THIS" topic.

True, you did not. I did because that is what we have. Also, it seems the reply from which you quoted was to someone else who argued that the automated mute system "is necessary for the growth of dota 2."

EDIT: oh yeah, I missed that in your first post.
    Sorry.

Yeah I'm not fond of the automated system either.

I can't explain why it became popular(probably because it was good and had high competitive value), however I have shown it wasn't because harassment was allowed. So the point is countered.
I never said DotA 1 was successful because harassment was allowed. I said you cannot explain why DotA 1 became so successful as to spawn three successors even though it did not have an automated mute system.

The game is enjoyable. It's frustrating and hard at first because there are over 100 heroes, each with four skills and standard / situational item builds. But it is a well made game. That's why it became so popular.

Anyone who wants to argue that the absence of an automated mute system stifles player growth has to explain how DotA 1 got to be this popular in the first place WITHOUT one. I thank you for admitting that you cannot do that.

AFAIK, Blizzard has people REVIEWING cases manually. They do not have an automated mute / ban system.

    And
Blizzard handled it better than valve <- which we both agree on.

Yes it does. There is no logical reason for any human being to report another human being for the sake of calling "gg" or "ggwp". That simply does not happen, nor ever will. If you got reported in your game and all you have said was "gg", then I can make the following conclusions:

    A. that player is upset at you for killing him or some other obscure reason that is unknown to both of us.
    B. that player is also muted and just wants to report everyone s/he can.
    C. the person lied and did not simply write "gg" or "ggwp". There was more said than that.

Your insults were unnecessary. You know what does not make any sense though? This sentence here:
The point is the abuse of the mute system since its automated.

I also include that under "B. because you don't like the guy in some way or another."
The player doesn't like him/her because s/he was muted. (ie. throwing a tantrum.)

Note: There is abuse in the system. I'm not arguing against that at all.

True, but now you're talking about something else, not what you originally stated: without an automated mute system, the game will lose players. You still can't explain how DotA 1 became so popular without one.

And afaik, Dota was a mod(map) in wc3, where you could get banned by harassing other players.

Though I must say that blizzard handles it better.

I totally agree with you but read my previous comment and you will understand why it is not implemented.

haha, im lazy as pig to copy past your comments again. Lets cut the crap and come to the point.

At the start of every match -> this comes up
Player Racerkid has been muted for flaming , you may unmute him by typing !unmute in the console .

My question to Dota 2 developers is -> wtf cant we have such a simple option implemented , something like
Player Racerkid has been muted , you may unmute him by deselecting ignore icon in the players view panel at the top left of your screen (with icon symbol for newbies to better understand)
