i can't get if you did that with Drow on purpose or it was a casual game and you just uploaded it. You deserved to be reported in this game if you went and fucked up OD's solo. Also as broken and shitty this Mute system is, you people realise that in Dota you have to communicate so if you don't say nothing you still deserve to be reported? There is nothing more irritating than a guy playing solo a team based game and not saying a word. L2p.

        He was playing vs bots.

Obviously he was just making a point that he got mute banned for "communication abuse" because he didn't say a thing.

This shows how fucking disasterously awful this mute system is. Banned for laning middle with drow.

So he gets a mute and can't communicate next game? What problem has been solved. Get banned for not talking, now you can't talk.

        Fucking retarded.

So let's say the OP did this (he probably did). Does that mean that people don't actively abuse the mute system?

Nothing can stop people from reporting, but nothing is gonna happen to you unless you've been reported on more than once ocasion on more than one game, so either you deserved it or you must have really bad luck in getting abused on more than one ocasion repeatedly.

People can only report 3 times a week and only get a new one if a person they reported got muted.

OP did what? Went to lane with a hero in an easy bot game?

All idiocy aside, is this the kind of way valve wants to welcome people to the game?

Join an easy bot game, pick a hero, walk to lane, get muted.

Who would pay for that? This is financial suicide.

Not sure what broken logic you're using, but you are incorrect (at least prior to the mute system changes in the latest patch that changes the algorithm). The more often you play, the higher chances of getting muted. You might play 1-2 games a week whereas the person next to you might play 1-2 a day. He needs to be reported multiple times in quick succession (less than a few days). If you play one game on Monday and one game on Thursday (two days and three days in between playing), you have an FAR lower chance to be reported multiple times in X days than the other player who plays every day, multiple games a day.

The video the OP posted proves this. Even without saying anything, people still report him because they know that 1) the system is abusable and 2) they're extremely likely to get their reports back by reporting for verbal abuse. The Drow (OP) wasn't verbally abusive, and yet he was reported (and muted) for being 'verbally abusive'. The system is automated and saw that multiple people reported him for verbal abuse because they were pissed he wasn't just going to bow to their whims and do what they say. The current mute system (prior to algorithm changes) is an abuser's tool, not a victim's tool. It's used to threaten and harass since an overwhelming majority of the community knows how abused it is and that almost anyone can get muted almost immediately.

You forgot the part about "completely ignoring what his team says or does".

Yeah because a new player playing easy bots knows what to do. What if you don't know what a lane is? Mute banned.

Well, in a hypothetical situation I could have not responded for a lot of reasons: being AFK at the start, being foreign, being easily confused with pings. These things do happen with other people and the damage with his report would've been done anyways... plus in those matches before I would have the average "first game? pick Dragon Knight!" tutorial babies come mid just to feed the tower or Viper. And I had a lot of leniency with them... mostly because I knew it was going to be a win anyways so all their stupidity to make it harder was moot.

If it really was communication abuse (by the way the punishment that locks out the feature insinuates, not some asshat's subjective ruling), I get a chat ban so I can't communicate because I didn't communicate?

I think magicmerl and some other guy gave the handy suggestion of being able to withdraw a report by the end of the match because just about everyone uses theirs in the heat of a moment. It just has to work with clowns who trigger-finger and think they're right all the time.

Look, someone was talking to you. Why not ask him?
From the behaviour of that OD player, he seems to be a pretty nice guy who would want to help you. But you completely ignore him.
I'm still surprised how most dota players apparently think not asking for help makes them manly or something. It's just dumb.

And yes, I agree that the support for communication abuse was unjustified and that this guy should have just walked to an other lane (although with OD that would have been a very unpleasing experience for him).
When some guy refuses to play with the team in a game that can only be won by team play, then it's probably the best idea to abandon it. This is what I would have done.

Report this griefing son of a bitch. First he waited 5 minutes for abandoned, then reconnected and trolled hardcore not just with items and cutting trees, but also in team chat (he wasn't really muted). I don't care if he's protesting against the mute system, I don't want such retards ruining my playing experience. I sincerely hope Valve implements low priority queue punishment for communication abuse.
