I think this Mute System only increased the Racism , but not only that.
It been used not only on me but on my friends for joking around , we got reported for the words : "So here my hero and hook me maybe~" , its was a "call me maybe" parody joke about pudge hook.
is that sound even logical to you ? where is the freedom chatting with people and not being reported about couple of players having fun in the middle of the game ?

Dota 2 suppose to be social and douche\asshole\angry\troll\mad players will always stay in those moba games , I see the main reason why they put it but it only made it worse , now those people who swear also report back the person , if he lucky enough he still left some reports to use and you not !

Here is a story that happened to me a while ago:
I played a match while in the match my team was winning , I told the other team that my team is awesome and I hope for them to get a better team next game.
Guess what tha F*ck they said ? : "Reported for being sarcastic and community chat abuser."
now srsly WTF ? did this ever happened to you ?
i was shocked ! players that mad even a little will report you and mute you even if you being nice. JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE MAD !
You don't need even swear , it will get you and will bite you in the ass.

After this story , i quit for a while and didn't played for a couple of weeks.
And i can promise you that some sort of shit will happen to you with this mute system that being used by mad\troll\douche\monkeys players to MUTE YOU and not them.

I see no difference and honestly I saw no major racism in any of my games. Racism is not a problem in dota2.

Giving people a hard time for not speaking English isn't racism.

It's lashing out because your odds of winning just dropped.

Lats night I was playing a game. For the first time, I pick Tiny. I had called top during her oselection (I was DIre) and was already moving when these two guys finally picked their heroes. As I get to the second tower and stop, the two start screaming into their mics about wanting top. And I mean screaming. Both had Scandinavian accents, but were intelligible. They cried about me not "playing as a team", but creeps had already started moving. I didn't say anything. Finally, one of them said, "Report him so he's muted. I just did."

So, since I was muted, and Tiny, I Did what any sensible troll does to show who is the better troll.

He went 0-11 as CM, because every time he'd start to do something, I'd toss him to the enemy to die.

We won, oddly (the other team was BAD). He raged about it the entire game, and I ignored it until the last time, when he asked why.

"It's simple: you thought you were trolling me when you said you were reporting me. Since you think it's funny to troll, I played your game."

"Bu I didn't actually report you!"

"Then don't say you did, especially when someone has a hero who can ruin your game."

I'm guessing you are a native speaker? try and pretend an accent some time when you play and come back to me after 5 games or so

And about that tiny, I'm guessing that CM didnt know where the button to turn off assistance was?
Make a NON automated report system.
I would rather wait 10 minutes for a balanced, fun and exciting match that will last 1+ hours. Than wait 10 seconds for a poorly balanced crapmatch that will end in 30- minutes
Valve, How I'm I supposed to respect certain boundaries to prevent a mute if I dont know them because they are different for each and every person on each and every game I play?
The only type of player that dislikes having his stats public are the players that suck and cheaters

The mute system neither reduced Racism nor increased it. It has always been the way it is.
You see Russian, you mute them.
You see Brazillian, you mute them.
You see Chinese? well, they keep their mouth shut and play the game

Tiny's throw is not targetable, meaning unlike KotL's teleport and Io's teleport, it won't be shut off by turning off assistance.

He's playing on an English server with the ability to go to servers with only Russians, who can understand him. It may not make him racist, but it makes him ignorant and a burden, and people like him should be ostracized constantly.

+1 Thread, make sense, have jumped to same conclusions, especially since that I see even more foreign languages on eu servers.

Only thing that can reduce racism is proper education.
                            In russia.
There is nothing valve can do about it unless stupid russians stop typing russian in english only eu games and stop playing like an idiot.

                              perfect example of discrimination ^
I understand your frustration (Yes, I am a US citizen) however, since when did it become ALL people from a certain country who suck? I HAVE seen good russians at play before in the US servers, and although I cant understand them, the chat wheel is usually enough to get my point across.

OT: The mute system is "OK". It's not perfect nor do I think it will ever be. However, I'm not too sure what Valve does at this point. The system doesn't care too much about who is reported, as it seems more of the guys that are rude are just gang reporting people who don't agree with them, just playing "not up to par" with the rest of the team, or in you case: race. Me personally I haven't seen it improve nor decline much but it seems most people have seen an increase so it's at least an issue that Valve should be looking into.

I have actually had someone tell me they were going to report me and the other Chinese guy for queuing up on the US servers while speaking Chinese, conveniently ignoring the fact that I typed out an entire paragraph worth of English at the start of the game and then telling the people on the enemy team to report me too.

These racist jackholes are the kind of people Valve thinks are competent enough to police their own community. How anyone on the Dota 2 dev team didn't raise their hand and say that a self policing community on the internet was a completely stupid idea is beyond me.
In their defense, I don't believe they were racist.

Could they have just been dickheads? Sure, of course they could have. But I also think they were likely just some people who were fed up with people who didn't speak English but insist to queue for English language/US servers, and just angrily called for reports.
