  • If you choose to Solo Queue, matchmaking will punish you

Yes, yet another matchmaking thread but I just couldn't help it. I hope this is the right place to post it.

Valve matchmaking has been abysmal to say the least. If I party with a friend or sometimes two, I wind up against a 5 man tryhard stack, the kind that picks KoTL, PL, Nyx, Clockwerk and Batrider just as the announcer finishes saying the 'pick' of 'All Pick' or a quick wisp + ck with a furion a naix a darkseer (or storm). I then check their match history and realize they've been 5 man partying all along. So it's two or three of us up against a 5 man skyping team who probably practice those strategies over and over again (as evidence by their same hero picks every single game) I do however, have no real way to prove this since I never took screen shots.

My next bit however has proof.
They then released solo match making. Which was nothing short of a relief after all those horrendous games. So I'd use it often until I realized it's been awfully weird. I have either stomped the opposition or they have done the same no real close games. Then one relatively recent game, I checked the profiles of my team and the other team and realized why my Sven that game pumped ONLY stats and stun. This is the scorecard of the game.

And now the individual players on both sides. I have cropped only the wins bit to save space, but the complete images are also available in the links below to show the veracity.

    VERSUS

So Lion was the only one in my team with over 50 wins and Rubick was the only one in theirs with less than 50.

This isn't a match making hate post. Just a sincere request to fix the problems once the developers are done with making more store items. I'd rather wait for a long time than get paired in matches like these.

The picture of the score card:

I don't even need to check the accounts to tell you that that Sven is actually a pretty good player messing about on an alterate account. His strategy seems to have been relatively effective, but sadly your team couldn't provide the time and protection your Void needed for you to win the game.

Despite having Rot, Pudge is actually a pretty weak pick vs TA due to his low base armour and his range, though weaker TAs can struggle against him. The only other DoT you had was on Lesh who dies very quickly to TA too. You need to counter pick against her or she will run riot. Heroes like Veno and Viper instead of Pudge would turn that game.

        To avoid LPQ:

        Don't draw attention to yourself
Don't use voice or chat except for 'ss'
        Mute all at lvl 1
        Only play in parties
        Get alternate accounts
Limit your usage to one or two games per day per account
        Don't play too well
Don't play on Sunday or Monday
Wait until the developers reset LPQ status

If you're getting matched with trolls or feeders:

You may have been placed in a hidden pool. There is no known way out of this, apart from moving to a different account.

They had grouped up as 5 very quickly, so Void tried helping out thus dying while Sven was busy farming until much later when Void RQ'd. And it's just that war cry would've helped the team against TA's armor reduction.

And yet again, facing the EXACT same shit today. 7 games in a row, matched with players who do not understand heroes. Those with 10-50 wins under their belt. One of which I cannot forget is when I had a weaver who didn't know what bounty's ult did. All I ask is to be with players who at least know heroes. Right now Valve is just leaving people frustrated with ridiculous matchmaking.

That sounds very much like low to mid Normal rank. Either that or Weaver was trolling you. There's only one solution. You need to start winning some matches and get yourself to a higher skill level.

Best advice: Don't solo queue. Less people play solo queue, so MM may have less people to match you with.

I had a similar experience once and learned my lesson.

Single Draft, All Random, Compendium match, on regular queue = Dota 2

Any other gamemode on any queue = a different kind of game

Craig, I was on a 4 game win streak (having lost two games in the previous 10). But I had a few 9/10's whilst searching with 're-finding' a couple times and then got paired with really new players. Trust me, they weren't trolling. They were definitely really clueless.

This could be very possible. But like I said, playing a normal match = tryhard stacks more often than not.

Lol, that is funny but sadly true. Looks like I need to find a 5 man stack of my own.

If you've gone back to using Find Match rather than Find Solo Match, then you could get put into a game where there's a big spread of skill between members of a party.

Try this example. You have 2 players: one in the top 1% and one on the bottom 1%, both in a party together. They hit Find Match. Who else should play in their match?

That game was a solo queue if that's what you mean. Got back to just normal find matches now. I'd rather deal with try hard stacks than clueless team mates

No. I know what I would do, but I want others to try to answer the question. I'm pretty sure that they'll get it wrong. Do you want to give us your obvious answer?

Now Craig, I know for some reason, you love defending this joke of a matchmaking every single post I see you on. I'd like an explanation for this then, I won three in a row, more stomps than wins. Immediate next game, get paired with retards (this happened 3 games in a row) Two of those games, I had players who had absolutely no clue about their roles and the other game I had players dc'ing all the bloody time in my team almost made me wonder whether I was in Low Priority. I still did alright in those games in terms of my K/D/A or team contribution if I was the support. Yet again, 4th game paired with clueless players, luckily my carry was good and an eventual base race won it, now the 5th game another feeder fed the enemy carry 13 times in the first 30 minutes oh and yet another dc in the game. Is it really that hard to be able to play this game without having a 3-4 man party every dam game? How the hell do they expect people to get into Very High if they keep ruining every single game when you start to win?

PS: All the matches I am referring to are me being solo on the regular mm queue.

I'll post screenshots once the dam game is up again.
