  • Is there any evidence that heroes are still affiliated with Radiant and Dire?

I'm thinking about removing the Radiant/Dire classification of heroes on the Dota 2 Wiki. Is there any evidence that heroes belong to one or the other? There are some gentle hints in lore, such as Chen sharing a design language with Radiant, and the hero pick screen is still divided into a "left" and a "right", but is there still any trace of the fact that, say, Anti-Mage is affiliated with the Radiant?

Absolutely none. The only single feasible hint I can think of is that Death Prophet, when she's the announcer, doesn't like it when the Radiant win. That's all, really. It's more or less obsolete.
Heroes this user should seriously reconsider ever picking again.

If you play in CM mode there still is the Radiant and Dire faction affiliations on the hero picker screen.

And that's just a word "Radiant/Dire" next to the hero description, backed up by nothing. Not to mention that CM screen is the only remnant of the very first picking screen design.

Not a single hero bio shows one's affiliation with the factions.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree that the CM screen is an oversight. Thank you for your input, 1337_n00b and Keowee.

I'm also bugged by the idea that the Heroes are grouped by their affiliation, yet there's nothing in their lore to say that they belong to their faction. I miss how it is in DotA 1, like saying how Rizzrack (back then the Goblin Shredder), was hired by the Sentinel, just as long as he keeps his hands off their World Tree. And with Auroth the Winter Wyvern being raised by the Scourge and even they don't know how he died in the first place.

Although, if you ask me, it's better to scrap the affiliations rather than try to add them to their story, because it doesn't make sense why a Dire Hero is bashing their Ancient to pieces while killing their Dire-mates in the process.

They play better in their alignment if left alone.
