  • [Suggestion] Rewrite Queen of Pain's Lore to tie in with Lycanthrope?

Reading through Lycanthrope's lore, I can't help but see that there's some great potential for a tie-in. Lycan's lore states that "Before the Fall, as the King’s wants grew strange, [...] his court grew crowded with sorcerers and charlatans". To me, this just sounds like a great opportunity to tie in QoP's lore with Lycan's, by having her be the succubus of the King of Slom.

Had a look through Queen's voice response list, and I can't see any that would need changing, so this would basically just boil down to a lore rewrite and some unique dialog lines being added too. Your thoughts?

Really though especially if this were made so I will grow even more confused as to why Lycan is on the Dire side.

    EDIT:
Mind you, I like the idea. I like it a lot, it's just that his lore currently isn't too Dire'ish, and especially if they make it so that the King of Slom and QoP are related, it'll make it even more apparant that his clan was fighting for a just cause, and should belong to the Radiant.
Lycan does have the free ticket of inner beast, but if you just look at his quotes it's obvious that he largely controls his inner beast, he's not a slave to its power.
Even if he's unaware that the reason the king became corrupt was QoP (because if he knew, he'd be on the Radiant for certain), I still think it makes the King corrupt to such a degree that he is definitely fighting for good. The only possible argument you can make at that point is that he only cares for revenge which has corrupted his other ideals, but then it's HELLO Vengeful Spirit, who only cares for revenge yet still sides with the good guys.

Please, Doom and Shadow Fiend kicked Shadow Demon's ass, yet they're all Dire.

That's completely different. Every single one of them is pure evil, they're just evil fighting for the throne of power. None of them are in any way redeemable as 'good'.

It's already fairly clear that the King is an evil scumbag though - check out Beastmaster's lore, where he's described as the "Mad King of Slom".

I believe they don't choose their side, but being drawn by the Ancients themselves.
About Vengeful Spirit, she has a goddess on her shoulder =).

why does radiant and dire affiliation have to be as shallow as 'good' and 'evil'?

I can't believe some people failed to realize that both are evil in their ways.

'Good' and 'evil' is as shallow as you make it.
I could say Shadow Demon is a power hungry demon that has no respect for other creatures nor it's fellow demons and that wishes to enslave all of mankind in order to overthrow the balance of the entire world for his own benefit in what is probably an attempt to become what could be called a God.
I could also save myself a lot of work in writing it and call him evil, cause that is surely what he can be regarded as from anyone with even the slightest bit of morals.

no, it's a shallow way to generalize the motivations of a cast of characters that are each supposed to have their own depth
'good' and 'evil' are awful ways to describe any kind of character that you want to be relatable or have any degree of originality

Dear lord man. I KNOW their lore. This is the lore department you think any of us here DON'T know their lore? But I really don't care to state their exact personality every single time. It's quite a bother to say that Shadow Demon is a power hungry demon that wishes to become God, that Doom is Satan who wishes to conquer the entire world and throw it into chaos, and that Nevermore is a being that doesn't give a fuck about anyone or anything other than collecting souls as if they're stamps.
In short, they're evil. For the sake of discussion among a group of people that already know their lore, I can call this in short, evil.
If you disagree so badly with me that you want to disallow me to shorten that long ass story to evil then you can go be upset about that by yourself, cause I don't care.

The point is that not all of the Dire heroes are evil. For example: Sand King, Slardar, Spiritbreaker, Faceless Void, Clinkz, Witch Doctor, Dazzle. Nothing in their lore makes them evil.

I know that, most of those however are heroes that -do not- care about other people or races, prime examples being Slardar and Faceless Void. They went for the Dire because they deemed that that side winning is most beneficial to their race, or feel the situation is resolved quickest by joining them. Witch Doctor just doesn't care about anyone, much like Nevermore. Dazzle isn't particularly evil but his entire clan is just a bit twisted compared to the moral standard. Clinkz is mentioned in another thread, he's basically in eternal agony. He's not evil in life, but his eternal agony has twisted him.
Sand King is a bit weird all in all, he doesn't really fit with anyone, he's probably a prime example of those heroes that join a side just because they're 'drawn' to it.

Honestly though I can't be bothered to argument this any more.

Sand King sides with Dire, I think, because they basically have the same 'element'. As in, as Dire's influence spread, the kind of environment that's beneficial to SK spreads.
