True But wouldn't it be More Awsome to have the Actual Shrine to be big enough to be spotted outside of the city? For instance a Tree of Life as a foundation where a city is build around. So what i'm pointing at is that the Tree would be bigger in lenght than the capital.

Well, so just make the main buildings in the map smaller versions of that actual spots. not every church is as big as st. peter in roma, not every mosque as big as mekka but they still serve their function.
It would still fit I think. I just ment to give the main buildings some meaning. Because the main buildings in dota are point of the warcraft history we obviously cant copy them.

Well, League of Legends's lore is pretty well structured. Each new hero that releases in LoL comes from one of the major city states, and has their own backstory to add onto that. The maps are also somewhat integrated into the story as well.

I'm not saying its perfect, but I do think it's something to look at, it could be a good structure for a general story. It also helps the casual community in a game grow, increasing the number of RPers and cosplayers (especially if the hero models and costumes look really good), which can get the game a larger audience.

The lore could somewhat be modeled to imitate the Team Fortress 2 lore (minor in terms of gameplay, but still there, for those who care about it, and extremely entertaining to follow). I mean, it's VALVe-made, which would mean that they would put a lot of work into it (Meet the Team videos, comics, etc.).

EDIT: Bring in "Meatball" from HoN! Everyone loves Meatball!

^^ Yeah, the TF2 lore is fun. I'd be all for something not entirely serious in that vein. Opens up plenty of potential for all the visual items and additions they might make, like a blog post about how Tidehunter ate Kunkka's leg one day in a match before Kunkka's peg leg equip comes out, or whatever.

Im pretty sure they said they had comics and 'Meet the' styled animated shorts which will help expand and show the world of Dota. But I too would like to see some more general lore. There's places, factions, and realms mentioned in variouackstories that need to be explored and expanded on to help shape the world. Some races arent even specified, such as Tinker/Sniper/Clockwerk's.

It would be awesome if valve release like a single player mode with mini campaigns with the story of each characters, adding new stories on updates (just a dream of me )

I really want to see individual motivations in the backstories of the heroes, along the lines of (just an idea):

Radiant: choose to defend the world from the dire // accept that its lost beyond hope and fight to destroy it alongside the dire.

Dire: defend the world with the radiant so that you may rule it in the end// fight to destroy it just for the sake of destroying it.

Since there is no limitation regarding which side they fight for, it would be really interesting to see some ambiguity in their motivation / background.

This could also allow for different "victory dance" animations, depending on which side you're on.
                Thoughts?

I'd support it espcially the victory dance animations.

abiguous. Not so much good and evil, but personal motivations. Given that they have "allignments" but are also "bi-curious" (swing either way), I think it would be interesting (and logical) to place in their backstories some small amount of reasoning to explain why they fight for (either) side.

i'd like to get away from the "good vs evil" and "save the world" style motivation.

there's a hundred playable heroes and only ten of them are in one game. it's a local conflict. the ancients are obviously important but maybe not "world tree" important. a military/religious/magical base but not the capital of the world. since the opposing heroes drop dead when you kill their ancient and are resurrected by it you could imagine they are somehow bound to it.

since they are called ancients they could be some sort of magical batteries or cities of a long forgotten culture that are somehow activated before the start of the game to provide the resources of the warring factions. (magical rax/towers, healing fountains and respawning heroes)

I think one of the main obstacles to overcome is going to be explaining why there are such widely diverse 'races'.

Most games that have lore behind them, the characters/races have more in common. Their uniforms align more. We're already seeing some voices and personalities. I think in terms of lore it would be great to just see WHY the heroes have chosen to represent their village/race/whatever and why each side.

It seems like it would be very botched any other way, so I'm going to side with what a lot of people have already said. Stick with the why they joined and why good or evil.

So, ambiguous motivations, like I've stated? Personality driven goals?

                              eg.
                              Skeleton King
Radiant: Vengeance on who cursed him
Dire: Conquest of his former alliance

                              Broodmother
                              Radiant: Defending her habitat
Dire: Conquest of any who threaten her

Obviously these may not be the best examples, but please think concept instead of specific details. This is what I meant earlier, and would really be interested in participating in the creative process (if allowed and the interest arises, of course).

Yeah heroes should have more in common, and as some people said in here, I think a map would be really cool to have. Maybe a Cinematic on the beginning of the game explaining it's story with the map shown, that would be perfect.
And the heroes's lore would support it.
