what is roshan lore

can someone tell me the lore of roshan it isnt on the wiki i want to know how did he get to that cave and how he got the Aegis

If I recall, Roshan stole the aegis from the Shopkeeper. So he got cursed by the Shopkeeper (?) and he now forever will die repeatedly losing what he stole. (Ursa says "Roshan, I have come to reclaim what you stole" in his quotes)

Shopkeepers are the favorites of the Gods. Many have tried to steal from the shopkeepers and they all failed. All, but one: Roshan. However, Roshan didn't just steal the Aegis of Immortality from a shopkeeper, he killed the keeper as well. As such, the Gods doomed Roshan to have his treasure stolen from him repeatedly, and his life along it.
The gods do love an ironic punishment.

i like how they made the shopkeepers favorites of the gods. it makes sense. how else would these super powerful, super stealthy, super evil, or greedy heroes be convinced to shell out cash for sweet items

Hey Kosmo, do you -by chance- know if we'll ever get some more awesome Dota2 comics and if there's a possibility that we'll get a background story to Roshan / additional infos to what we know about him already due to the first comics?
Over the years I always wondered what his story is, I mean, it could be incredibly epic or very shallow. It's always sparked my interest and my desire to write some lore to it, but something official would be perfect!

However, Roshan didn't just steal the Aegis of Immortality from a shopkeeper, he killed the keeper as well. As such, the Gods doomed Roshan to have his treasure stolen from him repeatedly, and his life along it.
The gods do love an ironic punishment.

That's just silly, he obviously stole the cheese, the aegis is actually the curse.

Shopkeepers are apparently trusted by gods in DotA 2 lore with all those mythical items. Roshan had a history of robbery and murder. As referenced in the description for the cheese. He was the only person to get away with stealing from a shopkeeper, he made away with the Aegis. But he committed one mistake he killed the shopkeeper, as punishment he was cursed to an ironic punishment, to lose what he stole while suffering the same fate as the shopkeeper. He was also cursed with his demonic form and bound to the pit in which he lies.

Zeus should have VA lines with regards to buying from a keeper. Specifically ones that is him:

-Trying to haggle for a short while, and then failing.
-Noting the irony of him buying items in a humorous way
-Lamenting having to purchase at standard price
-Promising vengeance when he achieves immortality again(?)

Something, I think it'd be hilarious. For all I know it could already exist in game, though.

Yeah, shop keepers are favorites of Gods. Roshan dared to steal the Aegis of Immortality from them and was cursed by doing that. He is now forever holding that item, waiting for others to kill him, steal the Aegis and give him a peace of death for 10 minutes, after which he just respawns to be killed again. Pretty sad to be honest.. ^^
