I'm on this with Jan. It's the goddamn 21st century, how absurd is to give in to bunch of people that puts the "wisdom" of ancient fantasy scripts before the common sense. The thing is, maybe your particular religion was of peace, maybe it's just about people. However, those radical lunatics wouldn't be able to commit this kind of atrocity so frequently and to such a extent without a common cause provided by their free-to-intepretation system of beliefs. You could say that about any philosophy and institution I guess, but again what exactly does religion offer that it's just worth to tolerate these occasional "inconveniences" (not to mention the granted privileges).
