They're obligated to host TI every year. I'm not so sure they are obligated to finish stretch goals before the next TI, considering they didn't mention anything about having them finished by the next TI (as far as I know).

But, they told us literally NOTHING with that announcement. They didn't finished delivering goals from last year yet and come and tell us, hey guys! we are working on TI5, see you soon... Rly? Tickets won't be able to buy before May 1st. So they could have easily made this post in April, since the content was.. welp. Empty.

Nowhere did they say this is the case. They also kept it vague on purpose so that they are not pressured to deliver on a deadline that they might otherwise not be able to deliver on time on (ie. a la "gief diretide" incident). In retrospect, it seems they intended to release most of the goals by the end of the year (and they did; key phrase being "most of the goals"), but they also got caught up in the Source 2 porting process and probably decided to finish working on that before moving on. The stretch goals, which are exactly that; "goals", are incentives for increasing the prize pool. They'll be delivered when they're ready. You know Valve has always been this way, how could you expect different? There is no implication that they were to be finished before the next TI. At least, that is what I understand of it.

And? Companies announce things that may be far ahead of their schedule all the time. Granted, it is not a good idea considering they cannot forecast their plans too far into the future, but simply announcing the next tournament a few months ahead of time isn't a strange thing. Especially since, I assume, the majority of the company came back from their vacations just recently. They are, in essence, announcing that they have come back and are doing stuff again.

I just had the best Twitch match ever, my computer restarted twice, I had an awful lane, the game got zoomed in it barely fit my hero, but yet I somehow I had many kills and least deaths on team and was able to win.
