Games are not going to even launch with VM's. Wine is much better for that. Whereas VM is just literally recreating a virtual environment for a OS, Wine is an actual emulator, and works far better, because it's designed to work with games and the likes of.

If you want to play multiple games use a sandboxing program.

No reason to host run a new OS. Use VM if what you want to do is OS related.
Some games have made measures to discourage you from running multiple instances on one machine due to abuse (e.g. tournament games viewing bots for hat drops).
