Not only that. The update takes fucking 20 MINUTES to be done. I have an SSD and my PC isn't shit. WHY. WHY does it take 20 minutes to copy some files? What the fuck.

Let me correct you there. Windows 10 is a tool, and a tool is as good as the people that wields it.

      • ^ haha that shitty 12yo argument. I didn't think anyone would ever use it again.

If the tool is shit, then it's shit. Win 10 is decent though.

                  ...

But seriously. I feel your pain and I was like this, too. But all of my doubts disappeared after using Ubuntu only for 1 month. And honestly, Microsoft's policy regarding userbase is simply disgusting. If your product is shit, forcing people to use your shit by isolating your platform from others won't help, but merely annoy your actual userbase.

After 1 months of Linux usage, I gained some basic knowledge about the system (some stuff is weirdly entirely different, but not in a bad way, just unusual) and basically if you want to use it only for a daily gaming or internet browsing, you don't need too much time to get used to these basics. Nowadays distributions are really user-friendly, especially the Ubuntu family and Mint. If you are curious, you'll learn some unnecessary stuff as well that can be fun, like installing a different Desktop Manager and customize literally everything on your desktop, etc.

Most of the general shit is in the Software center, to install other stuff is a bit uncomfortable at first, but OMG! Ubuntu and Webupd8 are cool blogs and help with that.

And those games that don't run properly on Linux... well... there are tons of these, but nowadays this number is reducing as well. I dunno much about your gaming habits, but heard you play pay-to-win Hearthstone and that runs well, also Wow is good, etc. These are the ones that I personally tried, though, mostly I just design my typeface or draw in Krita or Inkscape which have native clients, and play DOTA/CS:GO, etc. which run significantly better than how they did on Windows for me. I usually load faster to the game than my friend who has a somewhat better pc than I do, his game also crashes and lags a lot more, I experience nothing of these.

But anyways, after a month, I just couldn't go back to windows, I hate it so much. And yes, at first you have to get used to weird new stuff and sacrifice some games, but if I were you, I'd give it a try. It's really not THAT bad,

lol. There are tools which are just shit. If I have a hammer made of plastic its shit, even if it is a "tool" by definition.

I am actually a defender of win10, or was. It is actually really good and I use it without much problems. I was just pissed by the way they work with their users. I should be in charge of what happens with my computer. Not the OS. And some other things, but thats just microsoft.

I actually only play Hearthstone, Diablo3 and CS:GO atm. So a linux system would probably just work fine for me.
I've never joined the masterrace in the past because of lazyness. Which is double stupid since I actually have linux running on my HTPC, so I'm used to it and know the basics.

                    • I applaud you for making the change. I still can't jump over. The OS itself has everything it needs, it is more lightweight and supposedly more performant but many application are not supported in Linux which is why I don't use Linux as my primary OS. Once that changes I will jump over.

This is the same debate as Nvidia vs AMD. AMD is (imo) the better company but because of Nvidia anti competitive business tactics games run better on Nvidia cards than AMD ones. Or similar to buying eggs from free land chicken vs caged chicken. (Nvidia card user and caged chicken egg buyer here.)

Key point you're adressing here. I was actually about to install it until I realized, diskspace is quite shit for dualbooting. I have win10 running on my SSD. I think I can't partition it while windows is installed on it, because I have to format it, right?
Dunno how windows reacts to it tbh. And I REALLY don't want to reinstall entire win10. So the best thing might probably be to get a second SSD for ubuntu.

I'm just fine with using Linux because i don't really play that many games. All of the ones i'd like to play are already supported on Linux.
