Personaly, I"m sick and tired of one-sided games going on for another 20-30 minutes. It's a giant time waste.

People are here theorycrafting, but the truth is, if the team votes to end the game, the game ends. In fact, I'd almost say the fact you can forfeit in HoN puts it at a distinct advantage over DotA 2 once people get tired of being dragged along in games they dont wish to play.
With forfeit you're going to find more people forfeiting in less than 20min and going to the next game and continue doing this cycle.Forfeit and forfeit is that how you want to be in DotA 2?
We all know forfeit button is going to encourage people to give up in a game.I believe some of you have play HON and know how stupid it is that by just 5min of game and your team has a death of 5 and your whole team would start "GG,Guys lets forfeit and remake"

Its only 5 min and you are already giving up? WTF?

Same,i cant even play a complete game in HON because every1 just continue forfeit until miracle happen no one forfeit and the game actually end!
Middle game forfeit after 35min you can vote forfeit then i am ok with it.

        • The only reason I want a forfeit is because when most teams are crazy ahead, they won't finish the game and just farm it out and make it frustrating.

          I think 25 minutes + 4 out of 5 would work.

          • Forfeit somewhere in the 20-25 minute range would be best, I still think 15 minutes is to early.

In SC2, when I know the game is over, I can GG, leave, and move on to the next game. I don't see the problem.

              • In SC2 you're playing by yourself therefore if you misjudge the situation no one loses out but you. Also it's not as if every early gg in SC2 is good. Hallucinated void rays and Idra anyone?

why can't you do this in dota 2? gg and leave after the first team fight for all anyone cares.

                  • I think you should make that forfeit-poll also with HoN-players.
And you definitely have to add absolute numbers. So we know if it's 5 people or 20,000 people who voted. Representative of course would be better, but I guess that's too time-consuming.

So my question is still open. Why do you think that forfeit has no alternatives? What makes you think ff would be the best solution of all?

People here are not reading the previous posts [anymore].
                    It's worthless to post here.
                    I will make a new thread... -.-

                    • I reckon we need a WIN WIN solution.

Forfeit should be enabled under certain conditions that detect your team is way behind in gold, exp, kills or whatever. The talented Valve team can figure out the details.

This way it stops enemy team from dragging the game out and not pushing at the same time stop people forfeiting too early and never get to late game.

Simple solution, really. The hard part is how to make sure the game accurately detects if your team is losing badly. Sort of a like "smart" game outcome predictor and forfeit advisor.

If it's a time-based forfeit then you are always going to have the problem of forfeiting too early, or unable to forfeit when the game is clearly over when it just started (e.g. 18 - 1 in 14 mins) .

                      • I doubt that the "talented" people at Valve will get a miracle like that to work.
                        And you can't predict dota-games.
                        Carry died while fontainfarming? GG

Maybe by backdooring. If they are fountain farming they already raxed you. That means you dont have enough time to push the stronger creeps back. If you can then you are pretty strong so you shoulnd't need to forfeit in the first place. The game should enable or suggest forfeit when it detects a BIG difference in the teams' overall strength.

Yes, but you have the problem that the game is made for the big difference. If you're strong you get stronger very easy. So you will most of the time have that BIG difference in the last 5 - 10 minutes of a game.

So whats the problem? If the enemy team is clearly extremely stronger than you then chances are they are just feeding off you and you want to forfeit. The game should enable forfeit when it detects this. The team still needs to vote to forfeit it doesn't mean its over.

                                You didn't understand me?

                                The BIG difference is INTENDED!
So why isn't there a forfeit in DotA 1 then? Explain.
