Had the forfeit function been there it would've been conceded at or around 20 minutes. No thankyou.
i have no response to this other than lol

The really shit thing about forfeiting is that the guys beating you don't ever get to feel like they won properly - or at least I don't when I play against guys who just quit. I always respect the guys who keep fighting as do I. If they really are hammering you, the game takes another 5 mins usually. Your turn to win will come, just play the game like it was intended. Other sports would be pretty retarded if teams just gave up at half time and ask to start again.

The problem with forfeiting imo is that people give up too fast

If a team wants to forfeit, why not give them the possibility but steal their time? Just because you don't feel like it's a real victory? Selfish thinking...

sure I can agree with that thinking, but I've seen soooo much time 4 of my mates wanting to concede at 15mins in HoN and I didnt pass the vote, then we end up winning...

People tend to give up and take the easy way out, even when there still is a chance

Ok that might be true that you can turn a game, but just for me, i would rather play two or more games and win or lose, then just make one long game with a comeback. I mean i play these games not casual but certaintly not on pro lvl and i dont really care if i win or lose, so for me dota2 without a ff function there would be a lot of time waste...

There has been plenty of times during the past days where we thought we had lost a game, and then ended up winning because there was no concede function. Please don't turn the concede function on yet, if you are planning on implementing it VALVe...

                    I'm sad...

                    Sorry...

I can't believe someone would rather play 2 games of 15minutes each, with one team completely owning the other, instead of one nice game with actual difficulty to win and real balance...

Does anyone have experience with HoN AND DotAlicious forfeit system? Which one is better in your opinion?

@all people saying "no we don't want forfeit system, people forfeit too early": PLEASE inform yourselfes (aka try it out) before you judge.

I played HoN 2 years for my part, I like the idea but make it 5people vote and NEVER decrease it to 4 or even 3 like in HoN...

In HoN after you lost even just one barrack the vote gets to 4 people vote so if there was one guy not wanting to concede, he's fucked

I have been on both the losing and winning team when facing against a team that is about to be forfeited most of the time the FF is only brought up by players who are simply not having fun usually they are ignored in till its obvious that the game is clearly over (in my experience) I must also note that when being on the winning team there is a point where a game is no longer fun when you can 2 shot every hero on the other team at that point usually a team will either win asap or allow the other team to ff because it was obviously far too one sided for it to be even worth attempting to spend 10 minutes pushing mid.

Of course my experience is not at a public level where these FF issues stem from I realize there are people who just dominate a game and then prolong it as long as they can to "stat" whore them selfs or less experienced and trolling players who simply give up the moment that FB has occurred.

With that being said I have an idea/system I want feedback on.

                          Basic idea
                          • The FF command/option is only available from 25 minutes on wards.
                          • The Server hosting the game will take data ranging from over all damage as a team, gold gain, kills/deaths cs etc and use this data to determine when the FF option will be automatically given to the suspected losing team.
                          • A team will only need 4 votes to achieve a FF in the case of anyone trying to intentionally ruin a game
                          • the server will only present the chance to FF during a dead point in the game (aka no action has occurred for set amount of time) as to make it so another team doesnt feel as if their win was "stolen" from them
                          • the Team will only have 5 minutes to make the decision to FF when the option is given before the server re-evaluates the playing field.
                          • if a Team rejects a FF call, there will be a time limit placed before they might be given the option again.
                          • [not sure how this will be coded] Auto detect Game prolonging to give the option sooner when everything else can no longer apply.

I feel something like this allows a team to clearly make a choice when the option is given to them, also in the time where the option is no longer available it can give a team a moral boost as it indicates that their team has the advantage or the game has become balanced again at that point even if they cant tell.

                            My thoughts:

                            1) 25 Minutes are way better than "usual" 20
                            2) "the server will only present the chance to FF during a dead point in the game" - breeding ground for griefing, when a player wants to ff but the bot doesn't let him. But then again, I'd find it interesting if the bot would reply "You still have a chance, don't give up yet!" message Could turn out as a great mechanic, when a bot says stuff like that instead of a player!
                            3) Complicated rules will never work. They need to be foolproof. Not saying it isn't foolproof though, sounds like a serious attempt.
                            4) This system would need quite some interaction between bot and the player. Textspam wouldn't be good.

My thoughts. I may be wrong.

There are still other mechanics that could be placed in the coding to reduce any chance of trolling/griefing again the purpose of my idea isnt to make it so every game thats played is FF'ed it should only be used in the most serious of cases the way most leagues/communities set up their systems now simply encourage people to want to give up soon and thats wrong, dota2 should attempt to change this mind set to making players want to try their hardest even till the potential bitter end.

To some degree the system does need to side with the winning team sure it sucks to lose but you know what its proper sportsman ship to play a game to its fullest not just quit the moment you get a bump on your knee, creating a good MM system that makes it so players are not losing every single game is whats going to make the FF system work properly and be used properly.

an FF system isnt for getting out of games quick because you are losing its for rectifying Match making mistakes and ending games that are being damaged by out side forces (aka game ruiner's) in a perfect world it shouldnt need to exist but the DotA Genre player base simply does not adhere to making everyone happy.

That's the exception, not the rule. Again, who are you to steal people's time, just to maintain your stats? It's similar to grievers/trolls: In most cases it's just not funny but a pain in the ass to play such games to the end.

Plus DotA is a teamgame, so you will often find yourself playing with mates and friends which should support your votes.
