What about a page showing the ranked MMR distribution that updates every x interval in dota2.com(and/or even ingame)?

      Like this:
      Percentage of what population though?

      Percentage of people who've:

      played 10 placement matches?
      played any ranked matches?
      played any multi-player dota?
      played any dota?
      have access to the game?
      have heard of dota?
      have heard of mobas?
      have heard of computer games?
      have heard of computers?
      who are alive?
      have ever lived?
may possibly exist in the future?
may possibly exist in parallel universes?
      To avoid LPQ:

      Don't draw attention to yourself
Don't use voice or chat except for 'ss'
      Mute all at lvl 1
      Only play in parties
      Get alternate accounts
Limit your usage to one or two games per day per account
      Don't play too well
Don't play on Sunday or Monday
Wait until the developers reset LPQ status

If you're getting matched with trolls or feeders:

You may have been placed in a hidden pool. There is no known way out of this, apart from moving to a different account.

They should show your percentile next to MMR. Pretty simple.

          What percentile?

Right now, 90% of the players I'm playing with haven't even completed the 10 placement matches. I'll bet that the majority of those us that have are towards the higher skill end of the dota community. If you tell players where they are in that population, they're going to be dissaspointed.

So far, I've only seen numbers from 4000 to 5000. In theory, they're all in the top 1% of the Normal Matchmaking, but there are some very weak players between those numbers in Ranked MM.

Few people will announce that their MMR is 1000...

I check profiles of the players I play with, but I guess you're talking about players on this forum.

If their mmr less than 1000 they're in the bottom 5% and are not likely to be still playing.

Of those that are, they are very likely to be new and very few of those even know about ranked mm yet.

Of those that do, very few have completed 10 matches in ranked yet.

Of those that do, very few have even heard of these forums.

Of those that do, very few (approximately none) are likely to post on it.

I'd say that most people that post on this forum are 4000+

How about the distribution count includes any player with at least 10 ranked games played who has played at least one ranked match in the last week?

or an interactive page (like this http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/ (but for RMM matches)) on dota2.com/ranked ? So you can compare your own ranked stats to an overall stats from your country or any other country you select.

                      Just an idea ^^

                        What are you talking about?

Why would noobs not play? Everybody has to start somewhere and its easier to imrpove from a low MMR than a high one if anything.

That's a very small pool right now. Also it's strongly biased towards higher skilled players, since they play more frequently and care about ranked mm. A lot of people would be disappointed to hear that after 1000's of games that they're in the bottom 25%. Even though they're probably in the top 1% of players that have ever played a match of DotA2.

Dota is a game of disappointments. Seriously, there are so many things one can get disappointed in that another statistic isn't going to change anything.
