General Ranked Matchmaking Feedback Thread[READ OP]

  • Ty for your time and posting a detailed comment,but you got it wrong my friend.Ty for judging but I am not a flamer or a mad player and I am,lets say most of time calm since anybody can become angry no matter its you or me.Maybe you did not notice about the Note:This is not a "I am sad and angry of my lost game" thread part.
    The post is not about builds,its about how MM system works,but about the timber comment,I was a dota1 player and thats the core difference between people who played dota1 and those who never did.You unlock ult before making high mana pool and regen.Let it alone,every game analyze comes from different perspectives.
    About the MM system,I am still not convinced since different roles bring up different status and it has to do nothing with the SKILL factor until they make role preferences as a factor for MM.And by skill,I mean everything you know and understand about dota as a teamwork game,including picking.

      • Based on my observations, the MM system is totally dumb. It just matches you with people with similar MMR, and that's it. Anything rumored about matching people with similar traits and such, is just a urban myth.

        That said, it is true that the higher the MMR, the more likely not to have trash team mates. However, remember that you can still get matched with bad team mates even at 5K due to bought accounts, account boosters or people drunk or at drugs.

        If you consider you are getting matched with bad players over and over again, you might not be wrong. But if you really want to scale in the ladder, you gotta do your best. That usually means picking smartly. Not just picking a support, but picking a good support that has nice synergy with your team mates, or is a good counter to the other team.

        50% of the time I have to pick, no what I like, but what is best for my team, and it works very well.

          I did not call you a mad player but after a loss its only logical you are not thinking clearly. For example asking people to report legion for his 1st death or creating a thread right after the game to rant about matchmaking is quite logical after a loss even if it was you the main reason you lost it.

          If that was the case, you would be more careful with your mana, instead of trying to farm creep waves by nuking them with your 2 spells which you did multiple times.

          I have no idea what you mean but if you want "teamwork game" either create a team or get a bunch of friends and play as 5 with skype and stuff. You could do that on solo publics too but honestly its quite hard to achieve

              Dear Developers,

              I just would like you let you know again and this is the last time i do....the matchmaking system after almost 5 years of development is still broken. today after 9 years of dota i arrived to a point when i just bored that 9 out of 10 games i got matched with players who barely know how to use skills and heroes while i was ranked at 4100 mmr.

              Losing 10 times in a row it isnt funny as losing 15 times in a row either....i playing for fun and for win and after weeks of playing i just realised my best hobby become a headache. Every day i play 2-3 games and when i finish i turn my computer off angrily. No thats enough, dota should be a fun game and it was back in the days, but it seems you! The team of developers never gonna fix this issue. I tell you and other how the mm system work at the moment.


              there is 10 players 6 of them normal, "skilled" and able to cooperate. Then there is 4 another who totally noob and lame, usually they are the players who also flaming all the game. What valve Does? instead of matching these players with eachother they spread them to play with normal players. Which is absolutely unacceptable and unfair! I am not going to play with players who aren't suppose to be on my level just because valve decided to integrate those kind of players in to the normal players...No thanks! it was enough. I hope...and i really hope...that one day all other normal players going to bored this kind of behavior from the Dev team and they leave as i did and Valve need to deal with those Raging,feeding, idiots who make up the 20% of the dota 2 community at the moment. I really wish you guys to meet with them, play with them and be forced to cooperate with the. I really wish. Until that nothing gonna change and you don't care about how the mm system working at the moment.

                  The fact you forget to mention is they are always right and they did implement the system very good.Anything happens otherwise is your fault only and because you only suck,not the system.

                  • I don't like the reporting/matchmaking system. It ends up punishing players that play multiple games per day or week, more games mean higher chances of getting reported within a certain time-frame specially if you play the mid or carry roles. People can report for any reason (oh you didn't gank as soon as you were 6 here have a report) and any player can do it (yeah the guy feeding couriers and going 0-42 can report too). The lack of dev feedback and transparency about the system is appalling considering the size of the community

                    I have made a couple of accounts to test this and indeed a pristine account you often get team-mates that actually talk to each other and play the game together. A few reports in and you start seeing the flamers and ragers. It's fairly obvious how much the quality of the games changes and the problem is that it's only downhill from there (those type of players won't commend anything you do or listen to anything other players tell them). In my opinion, the way counterstrike handles it is better, you get more severe punishments for abandonments and an increased cooldown, and overwatch implementation makes more sense than an abusable report system

                    but in the end what this will push is for people to make more accounts but for myself makes me less personable about mine, why should i get a compendium or any items if ill just end up making in a new account because the games aren't enjoyable?

                      It's not even ranked-specific!!! It is a general suggestion regarding fixing the Elo system, non-ranked included!

                        True. I started playing this game not long ago and of course I was useless in the start. Played pretty shitty and got a low MMR. As I have learned more about the game from watching pro games and playing lobby-games with decent players I realized that I was not going to leave this trench ever. In the low tier there is usually 1 or more players that don't give a fuck about teamplay and generally does not know anything about what a carry or support role is about. The standard concept of playing Dota for them is "I get more kills than I die so I am good". In order to make any real difference to the team I would have to be like 3 times as good as I am to be able to farm and carry without support.

                        Recalibration would be a good idea for me. I would gladly take my chances to see if my new and slightly better skills would get me a bit better rating so I can atleast play with people that understand that playing WITH your team is better that FLAMING and playing AGAINST your team.

                        And I can't see any problem with people abusing this system if it can only be applied once every 60 days or so.

                            • The basic concept is really easy too grasp. We play together. I help you and you help me. I you write insults right off the bat it all breaks down. And above all it does not help anybody in the team if player X get 30 kills if the racks and ancients go down.

                              Have anybody considered that players should pick role BEFORE the matchmaking starts and then the engine picks 2 players from the Support-pool, one from the MID-pool and two carrys. And supps actually get scored for their performance against a mould of what should be expected for that role? Something like a Golf Par system.

                              So for a supp we could say that par should be something like
                              - buy cour or buy wards first minute
                              Get a game KDA of like 5-5-20
                              Game total wards 20, dewards 5

                              Anything above that counts for positive MMR in calibration and anything below for negative...

                              For carrys it could just count the usual farm, kill that is does now I guess.

                              • Can we have ranked for solo only?

                                I understand that dividing solo only and parties would cause problems, but to be honest party rating doesn't make any sense/nobody is interested in so why not simply remove the option to queue as a party unless you want to queue as a team (5-men parties).

                                Why I want that? First of all because having a party of two + 3 solo players creates imbalanced games in my recent experience, since they can either go in same lanes and cooperate and help the team a lot, or play roles that rarely uses their extra synergy and act as 2 solo players.

                                Another thing in these cases is that their "real rating" (the solo rating) can differ a lot from the party rating (because they play with friends, they play rarely in a party etc) which actually can make the game imbalanced skill-wise but calculating by ratings it seems balanced.
