  • Put a cooldown on ward placement

it spiked when i was placing a ward, causing me to place 2 wards in the same place.. in dota1 there is a very short cd for placing wards.. so i can actually spam it when in a hurry, but also make's sure you dont double cast placing a ward. please implement this in dota2

Why not? If that helps with not wasting them.

Some of my (awesome) suggestions :
    - Left4Dead/Portal 2 style voice command
    - Music Transitions depending on area and time
    - Show full item recipe tree without opening shop menu

Yeah, there's like a second delay in war3. Seems reasonable.

i've more then once seen supports accidentilly place two wards directly on top of each other, probably because of lag, or a missclick in general, so i'd have to +1 this, But i do think that 5 seconds is way too long, especially playing a support who actually intentionally wants to ward quickly before getting ganked. 1 second is easily enough time. 2 would be stretching it.

ex. you're turtling because your team is getting stomped, they have a sandking and enigma, you are at your ramp in your base on radiant side, you want to take just a couple steps out of your ramp to ward the high ground on the left by where your t2 tower was, and on the right behind the trees that teams commonly wait to ambush. You run out and from as far away as possible try and ward hoping the other team doesn't react fast enough to blink on you. With a 1 second cooldown, you can step down, drop one ward, take two steps to the right drop another ward and get back up your ramp. If it were 5 seconds you'd have to take a step down and drop one ward, go back up your ramp, then come back down to place the other one, meaning the other team has seen you once, and will probably be more prepared to kill you the second time you pop out of fog.

another example. Warding the dire forest as a radiant support, you run in towards the high ground at their top t2 tower, then back up to ward the entrance near mid ramp, 5 seconds is too long to be able to ward that on your way by, you'd have to stay for a couple seconds waiting for the cooldown which makes it riskier, which means less supports would want to do it in pubs and would have to convince people to babysit them when they place, which really should happen anyway, but anything that makes it harder in pubs is probably not worth it considering the attitude alot of solo Qers have.

+1 for *short* delay (e.g. 1-1.5 seconds tops)

Sure, like Jesus said, 1-1.5s would be best.

I would go for 0.5-1 second. Don't want it to influence combat when trying to kill an invisible hero. Double tapping in games ex. Unreal tournament is normally set at 0.25 seconds, so you must go higher than that.
