  • MMR Reset

Please allow players a one-time "reset" of their MMR. You guys decided to introduce this whole "amazing new ranked" system but it used old MMR. I've played like 30 more games and I'm still stuck with idiots because my MMR is low due to partying with my friends all the time. Now that we have seperate unranked and ranked games why can't we reset our ranked properly.

And no, this isn't some pathetic attempt to make myself feel better about myself, or for anyone else with the same idea. Whenever I play with my higher ranked friends, I feel like I'm playing at equal skill level and the games are fun even when you lose because they are so close. When I solo queue I fucking hate it because I'm the only competent person on my team. It isn't just me hating everyone, it's the MMR System. If I get pulled up to what I SHOULD be at, then it's fun.

Why the fuck can't we re-qualify from scratch? I'm debating queueing with a friend and making smurfs to see if we can fix our MMR, but even then, we are stuck with new accounts with no items, and even if we transfer them, we have to go through the hassle of re-logging every time we want to play DoTA. Why isn't this already a feature?

Your Solo-MMR is based ONLY on your solo games. Party and Solo MMR are separate.

If you've never played a solo game in non-Ranked, Valve will create a Solo MMR for you after you play Solo Ranked matches.

Should be easy wins if you're correct.

Just some examples. Why do we need a new thread about it? Most of them are quite short (and that's why I added the 7 pages long closed thread). Please use the search function.
        Now, there are two possibilities:
        a) Post in an already opened thread
        b) In case they're rather old and you have a great new idea create a new thread
If you think I've closed or deleted a post unjustified, feel free to PM me and I'll explain it to you/discuss it with you further.

I'd like someone to show some proof that your Solo Ranked MMR is derived from your non-ranked party matches.

You only had 1 MMR before the recent ranked split.

There was only 1 MMR to derive from AFAIK so your ranked base is from the old unranked solo+party. If you weren't always try-harding your ranked MMR is dumped and it's hard to climb out of the pit many of us dug.

Try making a new account. Even Dendi couldn't win a game with 9 feeders. Sure he'd stomp the 5 feeders on the other team. But it's sometimes too difficult to win when your team is feeding even harder.

I made a smurf WAY back and I decided to play NP to try and climb out of feed-land. The game ended 6 minutes in. I was still 0-0 and just got boots and midas, team was already scoring 0-11. Thanks valve.

If thats true then why is my MMR 800 more than the half the people I normally party with?

Also smurfs fucks up MMR so we should thank you and not valve for fucking up the system.

If the system wasn't broken to begin with I wouldn't have to make a smurf.

I've never had problems with SC2. Sure, it's 1v1, but I've only played like 300 games there. Out of my 1200 games here you'd think it would calibrate to 5v5 properly.

Step 1: Borrow a friend's account which has an MMR that you "think" you are at.
Step 2: Play a few games.
                  Step 3: Get stomped.
Step 4: Create a thread whining about how you got matched with noobs.
Step 5: Watch thread get closed.
Step 6: Repeat step 4 until mods ban you.

I don't find anything wrong with my solo rank. So does your individual complaint get countered by mine? Smurfs and trolls ruin a lot of matchmaking systems and though it didn't start with you, you're still adding to the problem.

Two wrongs don't make a right but one wrong doesn't make it right either.

You managed to climb out of the hole before you got stuck in it. It's like quicksand, the longer you stay in it, the harder it is to get out. I wasn't even trying to get out until I was well into 800 games in, because I was just playing with my friends more casually than I'd like to do now.

Wooooahh buddy, are you suggesting SHARING ACCOUNTS?

Also, I'm not primarily whining about the system (which does suck) my main point is you should be able to have a one-time reset of your MMR. SC2 has a similar system where if you don't play for 2 whole seasons then your MMR is re qualified (not quite from scratch but you could easily jump up/down 1-2 leagues)
