  • I used my main to watch TI4 games and my smurf to play games while the main one was watching TI4, I think Valve included me in the naughty list for that (as for farming items I think)

Well ask you this question: Am i able to run dota2 2x without using sandboxi tools? Answer is NO.

Correct. What is the problem with sandboxing though?

How long do you think they've been aware of it? I've been aware of it for about 2 days. Not really enough time to implement a fix and test a patch.

        To avoid LPQ:

        Don't draw attention to yourself
Don't use voice or chat except for 'ss'
        Mute all at lvl 1
        Only play in parties
        Get alternate accounts
Limit your usage to one or two games per day per account
        Don't play too well
Don't play on Sunday or Monday
Wait until the developers reset LPQ status

If you're getting matched with trolls or feeders:

You may have been placed in a hidden pool. There is no known way out of this, apart from moving to a different account.

whats the problem? simple: people abuse sandboxing to either
            a) gain profit via item farming (get items and sell them on marked) or
            b) via feeding/gaining rmm points and sell high ranked steam acc (what you are NOT allowed to btw)

there is really no way you should ever need to run dota2 in a sandbox since there is a lan lobby within the game already.

Also, they have been aware of it since day 1 pretty much but it was a non issue till mass people abuses it. Now valve put a stop towards that.

What did you do? Did you also run dota2 inside a sandbox to view games? if so, sit it either out or wait for valve to make a statement (or put a message into the game).

                Wrong!

I can think of 2 legitimate uses for sandboxing Dota2, but there may be more:

                1) Testing via custom lobbies
                2) 2 players playing from the same machine, with 2 monitors

Most people who are running 2 instances of Dota 2 at the same are item farming. Be it by watching tournament games or having bots play games.

There are some legit use but that's very rare. The issue with item farmers have to be adressed. There will be always collateral damage.
If you have a better way of dealing with item farmers please tell. Currently the International is running and it is very easy to run multiple instances of Dota watching tournament games. With the auto spectate feature the optimal condition of idling is set.
May be restrict tournament drops to paid members like the ones who buy pennants or compendiums? This shadow ban solution is bullshit.

Ehm vac is shadow ban based to begin with. (you get banned on day x but restricted (in game play) on day y )

And you still have the problem, that item farmers laugh at you (buy 1 pennant get all the item drops)

so what's the problem? They paid for the "tickets/pennants" and they are viewing the game...so they are eligible for drops. Simple as that.

Did you know that my Windows 8 runs on HyperV which is a type of sandbox (i.e., VM)? So what is the issue with sandbox again?

If you/valve think that they can prevent these by coding vac to detect sandboxing, they are wrong. By design, sandboxes can be made in such a way that both are TOTALLY isolated. Hackers will take a week to accomplish the whole setup and then it will be business as usual for them. But the causalities are the normal users.

Instead of coming up with retarded solutions, Valve should fix the core issue so these farming/mmr booster become useless.

"viewing the game" yep you can watch 4 matches at the same time...

A simple solution would be: The 1st client from that PC would be able to get drops. All other not. Thats a simple yet good fix for sandbox item abusers. (since you increase chance by 4 just btw)

Valve doesn't quote less numbers of players playing dota in dota.com or in steam website for all the loads of smurfs. So why cant they get drops too?

                          • I am reading this and all I can say is Jan2011 being a cunt.
                            You ignore the legit users.

I use two accounts daily and have been using it for the qualifiers.
On my main I watch tourneys when they are available whilst I play coop games in which I train last hitting and tactics.

Are you saying I am not allowed to do that?
Whenever I open twitch along with dota, my computer explodes.
Whilst having two dota open I run with no problems and can freely switch between the two windows to inspect either games.

                            This is just stupid.

                              • idk but i somehow feel like u are standing along with valve. I mean, there are so many legit usage of sandbox. example will be the recent ti4 qualifier, there are so many times which more than one game happens to be ongoing at one time. you know you have to sandbox it if u dont wanna miss out both games. forget about twitching it, it will kill my computer seriously. even if yes like the mmr abuse issue via sandbox is a big treaten to the matchmaking envoironment, putting a shadowban and act as though nothing has happen is no doubt the dumbest thing u could ever do. me personally i have done what i mentioned above and got shadowbanned for 2 weeks with no slightest clue given on wtf is happening and when i wrote to the support they are just slacking away and pretend to know nothing ,that is just fucking disgusting.
