  • Stealth Autoban, how nice.

    Yeah, so for all the "multiboxer's" out there, doesn't matter the reason you multibox, it is forbidden. Now I have to wait and see until they investigate;

I got two accounts "shadow banned" - My account, and my friend's account (who uses my computer to play). He is level 8 on dota, has never played a single ranked match, because he can't, and we've never played together.

Screenshot of my shadow banned account: volvo.png

Given my ridicously low MMR, my winrate and my games (all of them look pretty legit), I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this autoban system is not working really well...

    • I sometimes run two for trading, before the update it was needed and i spent $100 on expanders and still ran out of space. I also go into practice bot games(no battle points) with two chars to test things. I don't queue counted matches. I was trading yesterday, one account for dota2lounge and one for market, i didn't even play a game, i did spec a few international matches i had bets on, but not on both clients.

You must be joking mate, running 2 or more instances of Dota is NOT something a normal person would do. There's so many other things you can do, get more monitors, multi-twitch or just watch the replays later. if you are trying to play 2 instances of Dota off the same pc then you are in the EXTREME minority.

        • How about you make it only limited to actual MM games but have no effect on local lobbies?

Running multiple instances of Dota 2 on the same computer is not supported. We certainly regret misidentifying adorable married couples playing together or fans watching multiple games as bad actors. We can try to tune our detection heuristics to better discriminate between malicious players and ordinary players. However, please don't interpret anything I've said in this post as sanctioning any particular use case for running multiple instances, or as a description of our policy that you can depend on us to follow in the future. While we will try to exercise judgement, we cannot promise any player who runs multiple instances that they will be free from negative consequence.
              Thank you.

Please, this needs to be resolved sooner than later with TI on the horizon. Many of us do not have the bandwidth (or have poor routing with twitch) to watch twitch in HD let alone multiple streams together. And some of us likes to have the control of DotaTV. We want to be able to watch multiple games simultaneously without the fear of getting segregated.

              - Anyone who is NOT searching/playing MM on multi-instances should not fall under this. Since you can detect multi-instances, this should be easy to do with some server side coding.
So one can watch 4 games together or play in once instance while watching game on other 3.
Another long term solution would be a standalone DotaTV client (didn't we had something like this before?) that can only be used to view matches and supports multi-instances natively.

              - As for people like that couple, again, since you can detect multi-instances, just don't put them in opponent teams. This prevents mmr exploiting.

              - Now about item farming...this one can't be tackled without a compromise in some way. The best way I can think is this: when dropping items, just consider all multi-instances as a single entity. So people like that couple are free from any segregation except one: their drop rate chance is halved *when* they are playing at once.

                  2 days.

Just don't multibox the dota client after that until we hear that this change has been reverted.
                  To avoid LPQ:

                  Don't draw attention to yourself
Don't use voice or chat except for 'ss'
                  Mute all at lvl 1
                  Only play in parties
                  Get alternate accounts
Limit your usage to one or two games per day per account
                  Don't play too well
Don't play on Sunday or Monday
Wait until the developers reset LPQ status

If you're getting matched with trolls or feeders:

You may have been placed in a hidden pool. There is no known way out of this, apart from moving to a different account.

                  • what about the people who fall in the other pool. "Players who repeatedly engage in activities significantly harmful to the community are put into a separate matchmaking pool for two months." 2 months and EVERYONE is ok right?

I would assume so as long as they stopped multi boxing/MMR abusing/whatever harmful activity they did.

Thanks to Valve for clearing this up, 2 days isn't that bad of a wait and I can handle that since this will make the game experience better overall for the majority of people, although it still doesn't stop multiple computers from farming/abusing, but its a step forward.

Firstly, there's a much more effective solution to mmr farming: only match 2 players from the same IP address in the same match, on the same team. In case the benefits of this aren't obvious, let me detail them.
You didn't completely think this through. People could use this to queue with each other while solo queueing while avoiding the bump in MMR gained by partying (or do other things like abandon games that you would lose on a "main" account without the entire party getting a loss). This would, in fact, be much worse than the solution that Valve has come up with.

                        • It's two months, mate.
Special cases will result in a 2 day ban.

Also this change will not be reverted, it's been here for atleast a month. And fletcher himself said that the system would not be removed. Don't spread misinfo and hope.

                              yep.

Disruptive community members (how ever are they defined) will get put in separate queue for 2 months.

This new "feature" will only let you not queue as long as you use dota2 2x from the same PC.
If you find spelling errors, you are free to take them.

                              • so the matchmaking today was fast for us. GUESS WHAT I CANT BELIEVE VALVE ACTUALLY PUT ALL OF US INTO ONE DAMN SERVER SO YOU WON'T BE TAKING HOURS OR MORE TO FIND A GAME AND NO MATTER WHICH SERVER U CHOOSE U WILL END UP GETTING 200-300 PING ON AVERAGE. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS, IT IS STILL UNPLAYABLE FOR FUCK SICK.
