  • Why should the winning team be deprived of a win, because of a leaver?

Seriously one person abandons the game and suddenly the game doesn't count, wtf?
And why one person, you can still do 4 vs 5 and win! But atm you can only get a loss?

When there's a leaver, and then he's afk for 5 minutes, this means he can still reconnect, but it's still an abandon for him. The game, though, enters in a "safe to leave" state. Meaning that anybody who leaves from then and on will not get an abandon, but the result of the game instead (when it's finished.)

Need to recheck it, some of my wins didn't get recorded. Maybe it happens when the throne self destructs from one team completely leaving?

My power recently went off due to a storm and i came back 30seconds after the 5 minutes
The game kept going and we won it yet we didn't receive a win.

I did receive an abandonment tho

Did a 3v5, 2 in my team left before even choosing a Hero.
So it was just me (warlock), enchantress and anti-mage,
we won but the win didn't get recorded ):

I think it may be a bug or something.

Here are the rules for what happens when there is a leaver in a game:

Games with the wrong number of players at start never count - not really a problem any more but used to happen occasionally.

If there is a leaver before any action has occurred then wins/losses are not recorded. There used to be an exception if the team with the leaver manages to win 4v5 but that unfairly punished the team without the leaver.

If there is a leaver later in the game then wins and losses will be awarded appropriately (the leaver always loses). People can leave if they don't want to play 4v5 and they will not get an abandon point. People who leave after this point will not automatically get a loss like the first leaver but will get a win or a loss based on the outcome of the game.

Let me know if you have a MatchId where this isn't the case and I'll take a look.

Does 'leaving' before action occured mean 'abandoned' before action occured?

If not, could you trick the system and reconnect after the first action has happened and not get a lose every time? (I know this is most likely not the case....but I am curious)

What's the period of time between nothing being recorded and regular game? The message the game displays should definitely express which of the cases it is, as they are both very different.

K this is not the case.
Will have to keep an eye out for when it happens again since it was a week or two ago.

No. I had a similar case. The enemy Viper left the game right after hero picking phase and at 4:22 the message "Early Abandon - The game is now safe to leave" occured. The enemy team continued playing for ~25 Minutes and then left - no win recorded.

I just hope that I don't get a loss when my enemies abandon the game and I then leave it :S

btw I'd really like to know why I should continue playing 5vs4 when there is no chance to win the game, i.e. have it recorded ... ?
Actually I see a big problem here. Why does the 4vs5 team deserve the win? As being the 5 I could just leave, and then the 4 get a free win?

I think an explanation of this kind was necessary because I see way way way too much confusion with the whole "The game is now safe to leave" message that occurs when someone leaves in the MIDDLE of the game. I've literally had people on my team, after stomping the other team so hard that they get a leaver, abandon the game because "lame, game doesn't count anymore, later guys". Then I end up losing and getting a loss. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that important to get a legit win, and I don't rage but I still play to win, so it's still frustrating to get a loss after doing so well even if the stats will be reset. This should be explained to the general population of beta testers better (ie. on their blog page) and/or the message that comes up when someone abandons needs to be more clear.

In short, I agree with the system, I just think it needs to be clarified to the general population of players.
