Introduction
I'd like to suggest 3 new items with the following scheme:
1. Combined using one of each attribute item for the given attribute; 450 gold, 1000 gold and 2700/3000 gold stat item
2. Interacts with the attribute in question granting the hero a bonus dependent on the attribute's value
3. Interaction effects
- Strength item: Strength based maximum health bonus that stacks additively as a multiplier
- Agility item: Agility based evasion and movement speed bonus
- Intelligence item: Intelligence based spell amplification bonus that stacks additively similar to other sources of spell amplification
Design-wise I think the strength and intelligence items are straightforward, the agility item's effect seems most dubious, but I can not come up with better motif for it.
Also thinking about the prospect of melee damage - strength interaction, ranged damage - agility interaction, but having trouble finding a reasonable alternate effect for the reverse case.
Strength item
Recipe: Belt of Strength + Ogre Axe + Reaver + Recipe
Effect: 44 Strength
Strength interaction: Each point of strength passively provides 0.2% max health bonus, i.e.
- 100 points of strength therefore provide +20% maximum health
- 200 points of strength therefore provide +40% maximum health
- 300 points of strength therefore provide +60% maximum health
- 400 points of strength therefore provide +80% maximum health
- 500 points of strength therefore provide +100% maximum health
Agility item
Recipe: Band of Elvenskin + Blade of Alacrity + Eaglesong + Recipe
Effect: 44 Agility
Agility interaction: Each point of agility passively provides 0.25 points of movement speed and 0.125% evasion, i.e.
- 100 points of agility therefore provide +25 movement speed and a 12.5% evasion bonus that stacks diminishingly with other sources
- 200 points of agility therefore provide +50 movement speed and a 25.0% evasion bonus that stacks diminishingly with other sources
- 300 points of agility therefore provide +75 movement speed and a 37.5% evasion bonus that stacks diminishingly with other sources
- 400 points of agility therefore provide +100 movement speed and a 50.0% evasion bonus that stacks diminishingly with other sources
- 500 points of agility therefore provide +125 movement speed and a 62.5% evasion bonus that stacks diminishingly with other sources
Intelligence item
Recipe: Robe of the Magi + Staff of Wizardry + Mystic Staff + Recipe
Effect: 44 Intelligence
Intelligence interaction: Each point of intelligence passively provides 0.08% spell amplification, i.e.
- 100 points of intelligence therefore provide +8% spell amplification
- 200 points of intelligence therefore provide +16% spell amplification
- 300 points of intelligence therefore provide +24% spell amplification
- 400 points of intelligence therefore provide +32% spell amplification
- 500 points of intelligence therefore provide +40% spell amplification
Quick note on balance
Balancing these items is mostly a numerical question of adjusting the magnitude of the effect and adjusting the recipe cost.
Whether these items are thematically stylish enough to be useable is in my opinion the core challenge:
Do you like this type of interaction or not?
Clearly, if the recipe cost is 0 gold, these items might be a bit too powerful.
Similarly, if the recipe cost is 10000 gold, these items probably wouldn't see that much use.
Balancing, then, is mostly about - as already stated on the first line of this paragraph - a question of adjusting the magnitude of the effects and the recipe cost.
