    placement problem as returning player (4years+)

    I think your placement system didnt/doesnt work for returning players.

    My case:

    I played dota properly +4years ago, probably rather 6+ years.
    Now I got back to dota a couple of weeks ago and played my placement matches and ended up in "Archon 1".

    Friends who kept playing all the years and were at my skilllevel back in time are playing in "Guardian 1".
    So that rank or even lower is probably my skilllevel !

    Means I got to play many games to drop my mmr from 2310 to <700.
    Thats a lot of games that are no fun and that get ruined for hundrets of players.
    I did reset my MMR already so that didnt change much.

    I am guessing my mmr back 6years ago had a huge impact on my placement, since I lost all placement matches.
    That´s the only reason I can see, why I ended up that high.
    Or what could cause it ?

    If thats the case I think you should not take the MMR in account in the placement ranking when people are returning after such a long time (3+years)
    People got much better at the game so an MMR of 2300 back than is not close to what an MMR of 2300 now stands for.

      I am really annoyed !

      I really dont get why this wrong placement for returning players is not adressed at all.
      This is for shure preventing any fun for returning players.
      I have around 90% losses or worse.

      And it should be an easy fix aswell.
      Just dropping the MMR per year by 500 or something, when they havent played more then 10 games that year
      anything is better than how its handled at the moment.

      This sucks
