  • Very low download speed when updating Dota 2

Hi everyone. I have some issues with Dota 2 update. My speed is very low when updating the game despite fairly normal speed when pinging the Dota 2 server (SEA server).

Here's the screenshot. There's an error warning that happen to be appear when I press print screen button. I have tried changing my Steam location, initially I from Indonesia, I have change it to US and South Korea and there is no difference. Any help or suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Your disk is not writing. So it downloads but doesn't know where to save the downloaded files.

Thanks for the response. It is writing after the error message gone but in a weird manner.

Your disk writing is still being blocked. Unless you are telling me your internet speed is <10 kB/s which means it would take you over 2 hours to download 80 MB.

It displays such a low number because it attempts to write. It manages to write a little but then has to stop. Read the article I linked. Your hard drive probably has errors.

          Here's my internet speed:

I don't know why it used London server. I've changed my Steam location to UK - London hoping for improvement, it didn't.
Edit: It uses London server because I'm using anonymoX in Firefox.

I've followed steps in the article you linked, I still got the same problem. I don't know why.

Edit: Solved (sort of). I'm tethering my mobile phone with my PC and the problem is gone.

Maybe the reason behind your problem is the version of Yahoo you are using. You should check if there is any new update. If there are no updates available, the problem is in the speed of your internet. Have you checked the speed of your internet? What did your speed test say? Sometimes we are not getting the expected speed of the internet and that’s the reason that most of these software’s take more time than usual to process. If you haven’t checked the speed of your internet, I would recommend this speed test tool speedput . I’ve been using this tool for a long time now and it’s working perfectly for me. After testing your internet speed, you’ll be able to figure out the problem easily.
