First of all, I hope that I've opened the thread in the right forum. If not - sorry.
Anyway, I have stumbled upon this thread - http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=40794 Author mentioned the system where the weather should change in accordance to gameplay - big team fights - weather get's changed (storms etc). But that's too relative in my opinion; so I am asking you, what do you think about importing the global weather?
This was available in the first Dota (but not on the global range), so you were able to turn on rain only for yourself. Wouldn't it be cool to have like 10% chance to get a rain in the game? Sometimes it would be a 30 second of heavy rain, sometimes 3-4 minutes of normal rain. Also, having a slight "above the ground" fog during the early morning? Or rays of moonlight during the night?
Even though some of you might say that this would be a big gameplay nerf, it actually wouldn't. The proc of the weather doesn't have to be big (in some games you could have the sunny weather during the whole party). But this would definitely bring some dynamic to the way passive terrain. Valve is best known for the details like this so I am sure they would do the epic job with this weather system.
There is also a possibility to make this system local - only for players who decide to turn on the weather. What do you think?
