  • [Suggestion] Change the color of skill-based illusions according to hero color scheme

Basically, just like with Phantom Lancer, I would suggest changing the color of the illusions based on the heroes' color schemes so as to let players (especially the one controlling the hero) easily differentiate skill-based illusions from regular ones. I believe this would be very useful especially since some illusions are actually stronger than the regular ones (Chaos Knight's come to mind, as they deal the highest percentage-based damage of all the illusions.)

    Chaos Knight: Orange
    Naga Siren: Teal
    Morphling: Cyan
    Shadow Demon: Purple
    Spectre: Pink

Edit: As I've mentioned later in this thread, knowing between regular illusions and skill-based illusions would be very useful in specific scenarios. Here is an example (let's assume all illusions were 1 hit away from getting killed and Omniknight had to heal the right one to let Morphling switch places):

No for morphling, siren and shadow demon. Default illusion color is already blue.
Spectre, Morphling and SD's illusions are already obvious in their nature from their duration clocks. No need for color indicators.
The CK suggestion makes sense, but i mean, his illusions already get carried around with him when he uses his blink spell..

Leaving gameplay aside, they still look more visually appealing than the average illusion. Which is a fine reason to implement this.

Red for CK would look better with his ability icons. Otherwise, epic

Nice idea, I also don't understand why is blue the default illusion color despite the fast that illusion rune is yellow..?

Of course I disagree with you but let me explain:

Let's say you're Chaos Knight with an illusion rune. You ult. You then have 4 illusions around you, two that deal 50% damage and two that deal 200% damage. You start teamfighting and you're trying to spread your illusions so you can hit two heroes at the same time.

Currently, there is no way to tell which illusions are your strongest ones (aside from clicking on them to look at their stats, which you might not have enough time to do during messy team fights.)

However, when you're PL, you know which ones are your Juxtapose ones (20 sec) and which ones are your rune ones (75 sec) because they are yellow and blue, respectively. So if you were to send illusions to jungle while pushing a lane, you know that the blue ones are the best for that because they last longer and deal more damage.

I think that changing the illusion colors would not only improve the game visually but it would make life easier for the players as they would be able to differentiate the different illusions (that have different stats, remember) at a glance. The illusion's colors would also fit with the heroes; Morphling is cyan, so when your teammates look at a cyan illusion, they know that it's an illusion created by his ult.

This could really make a difference in certain specific situations. Here's a very specific example: if Morphling replicates an ally Sniper, and Sniper has his own two illusions, and the enemy is trying to kill the illusions, Omniknight could then know which illusion to heal so that Morphling can have an additional 1-2 seconds to switch places with his illusion.

If all illusions were blue, Omniknight wouldn't be able to tell which one is Morphling's.

                            what about manta?
imho this would create to much visual noise on the screen. afterall not everyone of us is still in his youth.
i think, it is better for gameplay to know, which unit is an illusion rather than to know which illusion belongs to which player.
