    I was SF mid against a qop and a roaming SB. I still went 3-1 because the qop wasn't very good. However Slardar and zeus top lost against a solo meepo and ogre and invoker bot died repeatedly to riki and veno. At 11 minutes in Invoker was 1-7 and zeus and ogre were 0-4 and 0-4. No one upgraded the courier or heeded miss calls and the game ended very fast due to incessant dying from radiant. Mind boggled that I was paired with the people I was.

      Description: My friends and I accidentally queued Limited Hero pool, so maybe this shouldn't have happened. Regardless, everyone on my team knew what they were doing and the other team were painfully new. We basically stopped playing after ten minutes and the end result was still a stomp. I'm really not sure what happened here.

        Bad lanes, too much farm.

        Lich gave up, insulted everyone and fed courier. Ursa disconnected mid battle retreat; I go to micro him with Omni and Lich jacks control and is an idiot with him, getting him killed.

        Do no tucking understand why people feed. Wish I had moderator support in things; too many vile people left unchecked. Hopefully he got more reports than just me, but I doubt it.

              NP and BS argued early game; NP went mid when he wanted to jungle. Not sure what BS wanted; mid IIRC.

              Ended up not having anyone in mid after NP decided to finally go jungle, then BS just insulted him and sat around, leaving mid empty.

              Yet another game ruined by the terrible community.

              Luna had 4 hours played, yet acted like he was pro (probably a smurf). Luna then started disconnecting repeatedly and couldn't play. TA insulted everyone (so did Luna to some extent).

                  The most disgusting game I had for a very long time.

                  -enemy team has god tier coordination
                  -allies are complete idiots that spent more time arguing than playing
                  -calling FF cause I pick regen rune when I was under 40%
                  -jungler was mute the entire game and completely useless
                  -offlaner calls GG and sits under fountain for half the game


                  Absolutely DISGUSTING team composition. Their team was playing like a proper team and I got idiots that cant combo 2 spells. Not to mention 2 spell invoker. On top of it all I was in solo que so they were not even a STACK.

                            The worst matchup in a long time. The radiant team was so much better than the Dire. The ancient fell in less than 20 minutes with a score of 29-6. The only positive thing was that it was over so fast.

                            • As background, I've been playing DotA a long time - since RoC in fact. I'm by no means an excellent player, but when I play hard to win, I usually expect to do reasonably well. I've had experience in a number of leagues, did a stint on TDAB and in general I know the game very well. The point of this is that I consider myself fairly good at recognising the relative skill of players and I have a good background in giving high quality feedback, which I usually try hard to do. It's also worth mentioning that I don't buy into MM bashing, conspiracies or anything like that as a rule - I'm a firm believer that the statistical fact that you're the only player in all your matches means that any weighted matchmaking system is going to accurately estimate your skill with a reasonable sample size. That's not what this is about; this is about an increase in mismatched games recently.

                              I've had a sharp decline in the quality of matchmaking over the past few months with an absolute tonne more one sided games - I've also noticed a greater skill differential between players on individual teams. I couldn't pin an exact time on it but if I had to estimate I'd say around June it started to go sharply south. I've had games that really felt like old Lordaeron pubbing, where the skill range varies from mechanically excellent players with solid game sense to players who don't seem to understand what their heroes do - this simply did not occur until recently. The large skill differentials in games has been degrading my playing experience because it's making the game state very hard to read. Going 10 0 on a solo weaver may not actually be indicative of a good start, because I may have drawn a solo lane against a noob and there's a "marquis" player on their team jungling as furion (for example in 264188132).

                              I have had all manner of things happen that just demonstrate an utter lack of game sense. It's not that bad decisions were made that bothers me, it's the people are making horrific decisions against people who quite clearly know better. In my last game for example (277026641), our safelane support Lesh insisted that our fifth player pick a hard carry to offlane with an Elder Titan against a dual stun lane. The effect of this was that Alchemist comfortably achieved a 6 minute Midas and we didn't have the lane control to even get into farming range. The game was littered with things like this - the teams were simply mismatched.

                              Originally I planned to deconstruct my most mismatched games and post them for you to view, but as I checked my game history, I realised that the vast majority of my games in the past few months have been very, very mismatched either way. I've had very few games where the two teams both demonstrated reasonably similar mechanical skill and decision making and I felt as though there was latitude for adaptation to strategies and communication to be an actual decisive factor in the outcome of the match. For every match I look at where I really felt as though our team was just totally out of its league, I find another where it was exactly the opposite (for example, my weaver game immediately preceding the one above, 261901000, I went 19 3, and my deaths were well and truly avoidable).

                              Here's the thing; those two Weaver matches are two days apart. I don't believe that in two days my matchmaking statistics or actual play significantly differed. I don't think the lineups are actually significantly different against a weaver - if anything the one I went 19 3 in is actually a big better because of the Bloodseeker, and yet the two games would suggest that I am two completely seperate players - clearly that's not the case. This is what it's like match to match, though certainly not as starkly demonstrated as that - back to back I'm going in games from excellent high achievement where we dictate tempo and just stomp people to having the entire game dictated to us and being stomped - I can't see how either my matchmaking stats are changing so significantly that between games I should disappear from a a bracket where I'm such a factor that we're invincible to a bracket where I must be so bad that I'm a deciding factor in our team's inability to get on the board.

                              Something is very amiss in the MM at the moment. Games are not close fought. Games don't even vaguely appear to be even in a way that would suggest players are all being drawn from similar skill levels. Matchmaking really isn't achieving one of its (I assume) implicit core goals which is to produce matches between players of similar skill.

                              I want to emphasise that I'm not posting this as a victim. My winrate isn't really massively changing; I'm clearly as much a winner out of this phenomenon as a loser, it's more that it's not what I want to play DotA for. I feel like my only option to get reasonably even games is to crawl back to IXDL or start grinding out as a group, neither of which appeal to my anti-social side.

                                This is the takeaway from it.

                                I really hope they're dedicating far more attention to DOTA2 after TI3. They desperately need to improve the game; starting with the matchmaker first. Trying my best to hold on until the next hopeful patch, but it's so hard when 80-90% of my matches are so bad I get so beyond frustrated it takes an hour to calm down.
