Suggestion: Another fix for Pathing

  • Suggestion: Another fix for Pathing

I would like to address the pathing for Range of Casting Spells on Cliffs

Currently, when you attempt to cast a spell up/down a cliff, as long as you are in range it will work properly.
But if you are outside the AOE of the targeting range, even by 1 unit, your hero will walk until they are on that cliffs level before casting the spell.

This is the fix I am suggesting:
Your hero will instead move into the casting AOE of the target area if your cliff is within range of casting area.

    Why is this important?

We left Wc3 TFT because of limitations, yet you don't want to expand beyond the limitations of Wc3.

It's a big problem for my Astral Imprisonment as well. But other than the gameplay relevance, I find it very annoying in the first place.
So, +1 if it is codeable (which I still dont know)

while this might be annoying at times, it is en par with wc3 and i wouldnt want to miss it since it distinguishes between players who simply click their skill on the ground and those who position themselves correctly before doing so.

+1 Would be very helpful. Doesn't pudge have this though with his hooks? I don't see why other heroes should not have it.

Because it doesn't equalize good players with bad ones?

because people are too afraid to change anything. Even if it is archaic and doesn't make sense.

situations where you can perform moves like the cross-cliff burrowstrike require mainly experience and creativity (because you have to think of the move being applicable in the situation).
some players will think of it in the last second, they will be out of range and they wont be able to perform that move.
other players will think of it before the situation even happens, they will move accordingly so they have the option to perform the move if the situation should open up.

being one of the later players (at least from time to time), i wouldnt like a change like that. i practiced quite alot to be able to predict situations like that. it is similar to a hook or an arrow, where you need to predict the enemies movement. it is something that you need to work on and that shouldnt be automated by the game.

I have to agree in this one.

It really reduces the skill ceiling of some skills. If you are experienced you know you Have to click near the area you want cross-cliff, you can do it. If you don't know, you will try to do it the easy way and realize it fails, because of the game mechanics.

If this was "fixed", we we'll see good scapes coming from every newbie player (and even they will be surprised by "Oh, that was the shorter route?").
