  • [Suggestion] idea for disconnects: display reconnect statistics on disconnect

Sorry if this idea has been mentioned before, this is my first time on the forums.

When someone disconnects I think the game should let you know how many times they've done it before, what this person's reconnect % is, and how long on average it takes them to reconnect.

So for example when someone disconnects it will say...

Someone has disconnected they have 5 minutes to reconnect.
    Someone has abandoned 12 games
Someone has a reconnect % of 95% in an average time of 3 minutes and 24 seconds.

That way it'll let both teams know if a person isn't going to come back (low reconnect %) or at least give a general time table on his return. I don't feel like it would be very difficult to implement with as many stats as the game already tracks.

Just had a game with a Void player who disconnected 40 minutes in when the game was still relatively early and we paused for about 10 minutes before giving up. While we were paused I was thinking of this. He never reconnected and we lost.

+1 but the abandonned stat is currently hidden for a reason. You might be able to overcome the issue by only displaying a percentage or an precalculated indicator.

I find a table idea very cool: you can display the player behavior during his last X disconnections. That way his number of abandon remains hidden but you still have an idea if the guy leaves a lot.

This is a very well thought out idea.

However, instead of the number of abandons, I think the percentage of re-connections before abandon and average time are sufficient. What use is saying they have 20 abandons if they have reconnected successfully 1000 times?

                          Good idea.

Completely agree with the post, but I would take it a little bit further. Add in Dota 2 functionality to see if the player manually disconnected the game. It doesn't make much sense to tab out and look someone up on Steam, when Dota could simply say whether or not they're even connected to Steam.
Valve didn't need to do a Halloween event for Dota 2 because the game is already dead.
