  • [Suggestion] Pick role before sign up for a game!

I don't know if anyone posted this before, but i think that it would be interesting to have.
So basically the idea is to have a role or hero preference before you sign up for a game, so there will be no more too many carries or support etc...

For instance : I want to play anti-mage. So the game will connect me with players that wanna play support and gankers etc...
I think this wont be a problem since the heroes are already separated into different game roles.
This could be optional thing if you feel like choosing on the spot.

    Sorry for bad English

    Best Regards!!!

So you will be forced to play a role?

What about counter-picking or if I want to random?

I disagree, especially for something like -cm matchmaking that would be very interesting imo.

Don't be so quick to squash peoples ideas just because you don't personally agree with them. You have to be more open to suggestions. Personally, I find it intruiging. Who knows it could evolve into something.

I like this idea but the problem is exactly what you said.

The problem is that everyone will pick "Carry" as their role and the cue length will increase incredibly.

It also makes Matching players even more complicated.

Also many good support aren't listen as Support (Sven for instance.) and some Supports can be played as a Carry (Sven again.)

Lastly people will pick say support to to get into a game faster but not buy wards and kill steal the whole game.

                  ever played wow?

                  random dungeon queue?

i bet my nuts 90% will queue as Carry and under 1% as support and the rest will be split into pusher and gankers and other stuff

                  now just imaging what happens..

                  right

queue times up to 2398239823982398 years

it does say in the original post that its a preference... maybe you will not be bound by the choice. this is only a tool for better matchmaking as i see it...

                    i rly like it

I think the idea is absolutely genius. Of course it needs a lot of fine tuning and work to make it into something that is practical, but please don't just say no because you don't like it. Lets discuss the problems and try to work around and fix it up.

Problem: the system should decide which team/roles-composition should be matched together? Not sure about that...
                        specs for bugreports:
                        i5-4200U
                        AMD Radeon HD 8750M

I don't think this will work for a lot of players. People sometimes go into a game with an idea of who they want to play, but then sometimes a counter hero is chosen, or their hero is chosen, and suddenly their desire to play a particular hero drops off. If you don't force players to actually play the role they signed up for (i.e., if they signed up for carries, then only certain heroes will be highlighted), then it leads to an abuse scenario where people queue for whatever role is picked the least, and then once in game pick whoever they want.

it sure is susceptible to abuse but then again so is regular picking... this would only help better matchmaking just like in WoW

it would be great if it were optional... so u dont get stuck with your prechoice. or dont pre pick at all

Awesome idea, as long as role selection doesn't bound you to picked role; because counter-picking is big part of this game and those mind-games often decide portion of game's outcome. But generally idea is great, if nothing as some basic help for match making players.

Also people who think most of players pick carries are wrong, I personally know two more people besides me who would play most of games as support. We, support players, are widely present in this game! :-)
                              None of this is real.
