  • Who is the punishment for use macro?

Hello everyone, yesterday I played a game lobby with some friends and people from a forum I participate and someone (which frequently plays as Meepo) said me the guy who was playing on that game Meepo was using macro.
Probably he is using... I don't really sure about this but ever massive blink poff he forgot one Meepo after the blink poff. Probably because he has Aghanim and the macro was not correctly configured to select the extra Aghanim Meepo.

Anyway, after the game we all go to the same ts3 room to discuss the match and create another lobby. It was then I spoke about the Meepo using macros.
Obviously he denied using macro for Meepo but he said exactly this words "I don't use macro for Meepo, only use for Invoker", and soon after this he said use some macro to combine and cast the spells. Something like one button for Ghost Walk.

I did a little search on the forum and find a moderator saying this was some kind of cheating:

Anything non-default that actively helps you play your game is cheating except some very specific exception like hotkey remapping. Scripts that perform micro/macro do not fall in to these exceptions.
This guy (the Meepo) is one of those people living using and doing macro for everything, macro for runes, upgrade the courier, etc. I just didn't know he used for heroes like the skill combos too.

TL;DR; Valve do some kind of punishment for such people who use this kind of cheat? Or they simply ignores it?
Report on the Steam can result in something like low priority, ban or any punishment?

I'm not aware of any punishment.

You can count out smartcasting from there as it was added to the game officially.

All aliases (macros) for game cvars used inside the game engine are and always will be ALLOWED.
Stop being butt-hurt and acknowledge that aliases are part of the game. Of any game providing a console, ever since Quake age.
You can explore this potential (since everything is public knowledge) and relief some of the stress your hands get in the process, or remain ignorant - you're like racing with a 6-gear car and only going as far as 5th gear, then complaining you've lost the race.

Actual cheats are Lua hacks and autoit-like scripts (underground knowledge) external to the game engine and going around limitations to provide true unfair advantage. To keep the analogy, it's like NOS in formula one, where even turbo is banned since '88. Too bad Valve's Anti Cheat is such a shitty system, it bans people late, after months of usage, not accounting people hurt in the mean time.

Sure you can't do magic poof's, at least not with just aliases. But the first thing to keep in mind, is that if you lag and have packet loss, you will falsely think everyone cheats. And if you are a noob, noob.
      Troubleshooting crashes

I'm not complaining about those who use or not macro. The point who some kind of macro can give too many advantages that it is almost a cheat.

Anyway just asked because in some kinds of games macros can be use as a cheat. For example in Battlefield 3, you could use macros to remove the recoil of the guns. And punkbuster (BF's anti-cheat) already banned several players by using recoil removal macro.

So if all macros are allowed in Dota 2 people can use macros like one button click to conjure and cast the Ghost Walk as Invoker? This is allowed? Even in tournaments?

If all can use it why not.

Current macro systems like that with gaming mouse Logitech Razer can play you any macro you want there is no point to try fight with that...

at end macro player in pro will suck because he will always preform macro while sometimes he will need stop it because he was hitting illusion o stuff like that there are cons of such behavior too
dota is team game and solo invoker with macro wont win you game there is no need to have such buthurt about that if
macro invoker dies same way like casual one but yea you need dust or some good aoe to finish him off.
