  • [Suggestion] Saving control group binds between games

    Control group binds make it easier to control units, but i see a problem with it

    Every game you play a game with one of those heroes that have units to control you have to bind the control groups.
    This is not a problem with, let's say, broodmother and nature's prophet since they have their abilities at low levels they can bind them easy before any teamfights start to happen but that's not the case for all heroes

    Brewmaster's units are result of his ulti, and it's not easy to bind keys in the middle of a teamfight with his 15 sec duration ulti inbetween stuns, tornados, etc.. Meepo has somewhat the same problem, since leveling his ulti in the middle of a small skirmish or even a teamfight leaves you with one unbinded unit you need to control.

    So my suggestion is:
    Save control group binds between games for each hero that uses this binds.

    This way you can create a couple of lobbies, create the binds you want and everytime you play that hero the binds are already ready to use

    Keep in mind that i'm not suggesting that binds became locked, meaning you can make new binds whenever you want

          Actually, i was thinking more about every other micro intensive heroes, not sure how this would work for chen and enchantress, since you have different creeps every game

                  Coul easily be done with assigning it to the actual dominate.
                  Creep 1 = keybinding 1 out of 3 (or how many he can have, don't remember)
                  Creep 2 = kb 2
                  Creep 3 = kb 3

                  when one creep dies the next creep you take over ends up in the lowest spot filling it up.

                    Example: Everytime i take over the centaur creep, he will be on cntrl group 2. Is this what you mean? I think this is a little op. And for broodmother and furion I use the "all other units" key to select them. Brewmaster doesnt rly need this. All the 3 pandas are autoselected. You should know that the the first panda throws the rock, the second one does the tornado and that, and the last one is slow. Sometimes you have the time to group the pandas when you are auto attacking after a stun and tornado. As for meepo... He had individual buttons for each meepo in wc3 dota. Not anymore

                      As I said, what i'm suggesting is different for chen and ench since you can have different creeps in different orders. But why would that be OP? You can already do that manually

                      For brood and furion i usually use 1 to select hero + summons and 2 for summons. Never really tried the select all others but it seems to be harder since u cant click 1 button and select hero and units. Or you have to control group them, which defeats the purpose of it

                      As for Brew. Sometimes you may have time to control group them, most times you don't. Having a guy escaping with low hp because your fire panda is getting blocked is the thing i hate the most when playing brew. Having this feature I could control group the earth and wind to 1 from the beginning, use ulti, stun + right click some low hp support, click 1 and micro the earth and wind while the fire does his job following its target and then call it back when i want.

                      As for Meepo, that's 5 of the reasons I'm suggesting these

                        I have suggested this before, but the post didnt gain much attention possibly because there are very few players who play these micro intensive heroes to start with and so do not care to support this great idea

                          Is there a way to save groups for every chen creep, so that I don't have to make a new group every time I get a new creep?
                          If so tell me how.

                          (No sarcasm actually, I dont know if you didnt understand me or I didnt understand you.)


                          About furi and brood:
                          That group with both hero and units is something you can make in the heat of combat easy. Rarely do I ever even use such a group in combat vs heroes. (You get better positioning like this) Only when pushing towers maybe.
                          But! I am still kind of feeling you a little. Because if you get illusions, they will go in that "all other units" group.

                            yeah, our suggestions have the same goal, having the control groups ready to be used when we need them
                            you suggest being able to create the groups on settings
                            i suggest creating the groups ingame and them being saved in between games, but the goal is the same, having the control groups ready to be used when we need them

                            I like mine better. You play a game with HotD on random carry, control group it, next time you play that carry the control group is done. Does not require any "wasted" time on the settings. And for brew, you create a lobby with cheats, create the control groups the way it suits you best and it is saved.

                            It is much easier to code too, just save the hotkeys to control_groups_folder\hero_name.txt and done. that information is already on the virtual memory anyway (programers correct me if im wrong )

                              I'm not much of a chen or enchantress player so i'm not sure how it works with the control groups
                              But if it works like the other heroes, if you make a control group with 2 of your chen creeps and dominate another the creep and then click the group key it should select the 3.

                              If you want that the troll you just dominated to be auto binded to the group 1, it's not possible atm and my suggestion doesn't change this
                              I really don't want to mess with chen and enchantress atm, since i don't play those heroes i don't have an real notion of how to make my idea fit those heroes

                              With furion I make the first treants at the fountain select hero + treants and bind to 1 and then select the 2 treants and bind to 2. Every treant i create is auto assigned to those groups. With brood i can do it in the lane while invis, without much problem, but i have to make sure i select both spiderites and spirderling without selecting the hero, not easy sometimes
                              Having those groups saved after the game would be cool, but it's not that big of a deal

                              But like i said, my suggestion is really good when thinking of brewmaster, since usually you don't have the time to make the control groups you want in that short duration and still use your ulti effectively
                              For meepo it's nice too since you may happen to level up during a fight and then the new meepo isn't not grouped which might result in you forgeting that meepo and dying
