  • Sladar, Warlock and Necrolye

The voice actor did a terrible job differentiating the heroes. Unlike the Godly Nolan North and John Patrick Lowrie who did so many characters while making them all different.
In my honest opinion, getting other people to redo the voices of the odd two to add to the professional touch to the game.
Not to flame, the voice actor does a good job. Be he did it three times. Heroes in question all sound the same!

It was discussed looooooong ago. So far the only thing done was a lowered voice for Beastmaster (same voice actor). Different players confuse different heroes voiced by this actor. Personally, I`m fine with Slardar, but Warlock and Necrolyte are indeed too similar.

    Heroes by Sam A. Mowry:

    Antimage
    Slardar
    Warlock
    Necrolyte
    Beastmaster (voice lowered)
    Clockwerk (fine)
    Shopkeeper (currently silent)
Remember, remember the 1st of November

Antimage was briliant and most different of them all. However id pick a Warlock to keep his regular voice set, and get a slithering, mucus sounding voice to do Sssslardarrr.... As for Necrolyte... A radical voice actor change. Something like a counter to Keeper of the Light but with the addition of Ancient Apparition. Something a skeleton mage would sound like, but not quite lively as ever funny Pugna. A mix of old, sinister, but more subtle and with less "grand" pressence that Warlocks voice has. Necrolyte is the killer in the shadows, frail yet scary. Something along those lines.
      When least expected.... Reaper's Scythe~

Ron Perlman. He voice the Lich in Adventure Time and does the narration for the Fallout games. He'd be perfect for it.

Hm... I just heard the sound sample and i have to agree.
I'd like to see such a change. All we need now is to get some attention.
Dota's strongest side was the community guidance and influence (when it is generally not lore breaking). If we get heard maybe we will get some justice for Slardy and Necro.
Warlock, again, has a grand voice to fit his personality and it came out great.

In my opinion all the voices are fine. If you have to change one, change Slardar's, but it isn't really a necessity. Necrolyte's voice fits perfectly, he actually seems a sadistic old man; Warlock's is good, and his whisperings are really "realistic" for a demonic sorcerer.
A Dota player and a LoL player are in a bar. The Dota player says: "I think Dota is way better." The LoL player couldn't deny.

              Spoiler:
              Do not bother Abaddon.

I literally came here to make this thread.

Sam Mowry's voice is so distinctive that it's kind of.... absurd to re-use him for so many heroes. I still think of AM as the definitive example. Necro and WL are probably the worst two, as Slardar at least has a breathiness that's fractionally different.

In general, though, this is really distracting.
