I typo'd, he says it 33 times. However, he also says Omnipresent once and Omniscient twice present, so I don't know if you want to count those. If you don't believe me, just go to the wiki page and ctrl + f 'omni'. Don't forget to substract the four 'Omniknight's that it will count.

I don't know if you are saying "it's not too much" or "that's way too many jokes", but 33 is a pretty big number for a single "joke" to me.

I am only citing numbers to put these kinds of issues into context. For my personal opinion however, 33 mentions of his lord and saviour spread out over 280 voicelines? If this were a joke, then yes, it would have been too much. But Omniknight believes with all that he has in the Omniscience. This is no different than a warcraft character constantly shouting 'For the Alliance', 'By The Light' or 'Lock'thar Ogar'. So I am of the opinion that he does not overuse the reference to his God.

I think that the original post was phrased too negatively, but I generally agree that some of the heroes are too focused on puns. The dialogue is 100% at its best when the focus is on personality rather than theme. I’ll explain why I think so and offer some other general thoughts (ramble) about the hero dialogue.
A cheesy pun only works once, but a line that conveys a personality trait reinforces the character every time it's heard. In tf2, the Heavys lines are not all “Here comes the heavy metal” and “things are about to get heavy!” The engineer never says “I’m going to engineer your demise” and the scout doesn’t say “scouting ahead” whenever he moves somewhere.
Character personality traits are really important for iconic characters and this is especially important in mediums that want to create communities around the characters. The reason Harry Potter and My Little Pony have such ridiculous amounts amounts of fanfictions (regardless of how good they are) is because it’s easy to extrapolate how the characters would act in a situation based of a core set of basic traits. I didn’t really play the original dota but my understanding is that there was a lot of fanfiction for it. At this point I think you’d have trouble making even an official comic about someone like lina because unless she floats around quipping about fire, you’re going to have to reinvent the character to some degree. (No pun intended)
Some of the heroes manage to convey these sorts of traits well. Storm Spirit is energetic and flamboyant. Invoker is arrogant and self obsessed. Enchantress is hilariously manic. All of them are pretty much universally liked because they have distinct and colorful personalities. These top tier characters contrast pretty strongly with the weaker characters like Crystal Maiden, Bounty Hunter, Ancient Apparition, Zeus, and Queen of Pain, who all seem to have a really bad case of Batman-villain syndrome.
I’d also like to note an important distinction between simplistic name/theme puns and jokes that are related to the theme. The former includes the weaker heroes mentioned earlier for whom half the lines read like someone did a google search for “puns containing the word ____” and copied it into the dialogue. The latter are lines like Batrider’s “Shoulda warned ya, Storm Spirit. She likes fruit.” and Nightstalker’s “If I ever get my claws on that bird”, which are great and don’t seem at all flat or simplistic.
                Some other thoughts:
I like when dialogue ties in to lore but it doesn’t need to be forced in if it doesn’t fit naturally.
Personally I would like to see a comically lazy/depressed hero.
Probably the most sophisticated way of characterizing the characters IMO is when the personality displayed is based on the actual gameplay style of the hero (Like Invoker/Storm Spirit). This has a really cool effect where the mood/dialogue/personality of the hero mirrors that of the person playing it, like when sniper expresses my annoyance for me when I miss a shot (“I thought for sure I had that!”).
All of this (hopefully constructive) critiquing probably isn’t even necessary at this point. It seems like the dialogue is already improving a ton with every new hero that comes out. The really bad offenders are all the earliest heroes that were available during the international, and while some of the newish heroes are still a little bit theme heavy in dialogue (Lycan likes saying things about wolves!), most of them are way better. Lone druid is great without depending on bear puns. Brewmaster talks about drinking a lot, but it doesn’t come off as cheesy, and the drunken stupor works as a unique characterization. Obsidian destroyer is a personal favorite with his cool prophetic poet thing he's got going on. Generally I expect that things are only going to improve from here and am looking forward to what’s coming next.

People who don't want to listen to all this merely have to disable sound. Most people (myself included) enjoy this aspect of the game.

Like they made EarthShaker's Ultimate say "Chaos Dunk" (It's a reference from LoL, right?), some characters who doesn't have a shitty joke or pun, could get one with attacks, and other actions.

I'm not good at this, but just to try it and give some idea (and so, someone who's not drunk can do it better):

A Faceless Void joke about Valve time and his Ultimate.

A Skeleton King joke about Respawn with his Reincarnation ("Heroes don't die, they respawn!").

A Kunkka joke or pun about his joke names, "Captain Obvious" and some players calling him "Jack Sparrow" ("You're staring at the obvious, FacelessVoid!"; "They call me CAPTAIN Kunkka!").

Some BrewMaster's fucked up quotes with typos and shit when drunk (Like he saying "You're winner" when he and his team lost).

A joke about "Paying to respawn, not being so free" (if the game becomes f2p).

Axe saying "Let me axe you a question!" from Rochelle, L4D2 (Yeah, most of Rochelle's quotes are lame anyway) after killing with Culling Blade.

A quote about Alchemist saying "It's raining money!" (one quote from Killing Floor) after getting like 5-10 creep kills in a row getting extra gold with his passive.

Some obvious Fus ro da joke about Beastmaster's Ultimate. (Likely not because that kind of memes are already crappy).

A Brewmaster qoute saying "Hahaha, Oktoberfest!".

And yeah, i could try it harder, but i just want to give ideas. We all know Valve got really smart people there who can make good stuff from this.

Well, why did you think i'm asking if it's from there, anyway? I didn't played LoL (not even once), and i though it was a Reference to some Earthshaker version of that game.

Do you expect me to make any sense anyway?

I'm fine with most of the lines. Naturally, no-one will like everything. Neither do I.

I prefer this over some generic stuff that we see everywhere. It's not easy to come up with a metric frick-ton of lines for tons and tons of heroes.. and they have many more to come. So far, I'm impressed.

Maybe down the line these lines (no pun intended) will get old and tiresome to listen to. But so far I think Valve did a great job of adding a ton more lines and variants than any other RTS game out there, where you will only find a handful of lines repeated over and over.

Moving.. Yes.. Moving.. On the Way.. On the way.. Moving.. Yes.. Yes..
(yes, thank you, I got it mr. random unit in a game)
