  • Zeus' new rival lines don't sound like zeus.

It's been bothering me since they were added, but Zeus' new lines for killing rivals, IE Anti mage, invoker, etc don't have that booming quality that his old lines do. They sound more like Chen if anything.

I can't be the only one who's noticed this. I love the lines themselves, don't get me wrong. They just don't SOUND like Zeus.

Sven's sound like him, and I havent given sand king's a listen honestly, but Zeus' sound just seems to have a different effect compared to his old ones and it kind of throws me off.

                Why are you bumping this?
                New Zeus sounds different
                New Sven sounds different
                New Jugger sounds different
                New Pudge sounds different
                New Storm sounds different
                ...
It's because people that voiced these heroes had other jobs to do and forgot "how to make the same voice again". It's simple as that

All voices are the same, but have different sound effects. Valve can easily change (fix up, make the same to original) them so everyone can be happy again.

There's no easy "sound effect fix." Actors' voices do change over time, and every performance is a little different. Many sessions are done over ISDN, in a variety of studios, and something like an engineer at a remote studio using a different microphone for different sessions can have a subtle impact--it is especially noticeable and can be jarring for fans who have been hearing the original voices for a long time. Other things that happen: Audio software is updated continually and the creators may stop supporting older versions. We have been fortunate in having some of the vendors go back and reactivate older licensed products to match the original set-up as closely as possible. That still doesn't really solve the issue of actors trying to recreate something they did many months previously and may not have heard since that day. We thought it was valuable to flesh out the early voice sets with a number of speech categories that were added months after we started the sessions and we're planning to continue till we have this in place for the earliest heroes. But the feedback is useful in helping us gauge the tradeoffs for future pickup sessions.

I think that the new zeus lines sounds fine. Didn't hear much of a difference on them. Bane's new sounds are the same but with a strange metalic sound in the background. Pudge's new sounds are both bad and good. Some are spot on (especially when you hear them in game) but some are really just lacking character.

I have not played DotA II since DIII came out, but yall keep adding heroes...I'll come back. Nevertheless, I'm pleased that you took the time to come and respond. Thanks.

In this case, I would, again, compliment you on the new VO for Pudge, Storm Spirit and Earthshaker, it sounds just like the old lines and I couldn't have possibly guessed if a line was new or old if I didn't know.

No, I'm not saying that the new Pudge voices are good, they're sometimes horrible, but they do sound just like our old Pudge. Only he keeps effing up his fresh meat line.
Heroes this user should seriously reconsider ever picking again.
