  • Add item rejection lines?

just a simple idea regarding how some items trigger the heroes vocal approval about obtaining the item.
why not add the opposite? i think it'd be a good idea for new players to get an idea of how to build a hero, i don't know about you guys but back in DotA, my 1st game as Ezalor i built a hand of midas because i thought the extra gold was a cool thing. After being scolded by my team and buying proper items (sheep stick, wards etc) i learned how to build Ezalor
So for example if Zeus bought a Hand of Midas he could say something in general rather than Specific to save recording time, so it could be as simple as "Do i look like Natures Prophet?" or even more generic "I don't need this."
    just an idea

Anti-Mage have some lines like that, but I can't recall too many other heroes who have them.

Warlock have few lines showing his confusion when buying Divine Rapier

When Bloodseeker buys bloodstone he says :"I'm only buying this because it has blood in it."

Omniknight has one as well: "Necronomicon? I would rather not have to use this."

Omniknight's Line is not a counter-item line. It is a devilish book and he is a Knight that believes in the Omniscient, that's why he doesn't want to use it.

Ey, fair enough. I just thought it was similar to what the OP proposed. Well, disregard my post if it's nonsensical.

While I like what Valve has done so far in terms of item rejections (mostly with blink dagger, scepter, other game-changing items), I think that it should stay that way. I understand what the OP is getting across, but I think that the phase of 'not-sure-how-to-build' is fairly short. Additionally, if it were implemented, it could really decrease experimentation in item builds.

Off topic: When riki grabs an invis rune, he says: "This is redundant."
