  • Rain of Chaos or Chaotic Offering?

We all know Warlock's Ultimate was renamed Chaotic Offering to prevent copyright issues...

But Rubick, after stealing it he calls it Rain of Chaos.

You should start with stating that his talker is not that advanced, he doesn't actually call out any of his spells let alone stolen ones, but yes - for some reason, he calls Warlock's ultimate Rain of Chaos, which I can't find a reason for.
Heroes this user should seriously reconsider ever picking again.

Rain of Chaos is such a common thing you could come up with, honestly I do not see how there is potential for copyright issues. It sort of reminds me of when Bethesda tried to gain the rights to the word "Scrolls". Some things I feel are too common to try and copyright, like Apple with "app".

Well, Rain/Reign of Chaos is the copyrighted subtitle of Warcraft 3, so.

Reign and Rain two different words, with very different definitions. And as you said RoC is the name of WC3. I am talking about Rain, not Reign.

Yes, one is a form of weather and the other is a rule, but when spoken, the difference is indistinguishable.

^^ When spoken, but that does not matter. It is the actual letters that make the copyright. Look how Valve won to keep DOTA they just said that it is no longer an acronym but the actual name of the game. This is why I believe Rain of Chaos would not be a problem.

That's actually a mistake that, unfortunately, made it all the way to the VO session.

Wouldn't it be better? I mean, Rubick should have his own version of the abilities he mimics, and they could use his Chaotic Offering mimic to be similar to Rain of Chaos. It's green, and Rubick likes the color green, so why not?

It's a big job, but once Dota 2 is out and is bug-free, they'll be left with little work, only reviewing and adding cosmetics made by other users.
