  • Problem with Invoker's Regen Rune Line?

He says "Vitality, like my knowledge, a well that never empties."

This is wrong he should say "Vitality, like my knowledge, is a well that never empties." this is a very minor problem but is clearly missing a verb making his Knowledge not as high as someone that finished Middle School....

And it's actually perfectly acceptable and doesn't lose the meaning. There is no verb necessary. It is in Invoker's style to speak in a somewhat outdated manner, this line a fitting example.

I'd really think thrice before doubting Valve on their grammar skills in a line that has been recorded and enabled in the game.
Heroes this user should seriously reconsider ever picking again.

The problem is that this is one of the few lines that his grammer is wrong. All the other lines are actually correct lol

          the grammar isnt work.

it's a more poetic way of speaking.

the last sentence also misses an unnecessary verb if i am not mistaken.

Invoker seems like he just makes up words. I think he makes up his own grammar rules, too.
I will mercilessly add to my ignore list anyone that makes an incredibly annoying signature.

He speaks in a very posh, archaic way. But all he says is correct.

no, he's just pompous and too aristocratic for you to appreciate properly

Vitality, a well that never empties.

That's basically what the sentence is saying, the use of grammar/commas there just gives a bit of extra information (it's basically like using brackets).

Karl, my supervisor, walked in the door.
The apple, like tastes from heaven, slowly passed down my throat.

Those two examples are the same thing as Invoker's line, and they're completely fine. You should really google grammar before criticising it.

Good show lad. But don't encourage people to "google" grammar , encourage them to learn it from reliable sources :P.

Also this particular line is very modern in construction so...no archaic, arisctocratic or other such labes i've seen...

The comma has many uses. In this particular context, the comma is being used as the word "is", something that is quite valid albeit more often used in older language. I just used a comma as the word "is" (Technically as "which is", but whatever) in that very sentence.
The annoying case with this phrase is that he uses a comma as both the word "is" and for adding a bit of extra imformation. Replacing the commas would give you something like "Vitality (is) like my knowledge (which is) a well that never empties."
Also, that guy that uses the semicolon up there I'm pretty sure used it incorrectly. A semicolon separates two completely self-contained but related statements. "A well that never empties" on its own has no relation to "Vitality (is) like my knowledge" on its own, so a semicolon wouldn't be used. The line also uses no listing, so a semicolon wouldn't be used there either. Anyway, the semicolon is a fickle thing and I don't understand it entirely myself so i'll just stop talking.
