    And what it does is simply make it easier for casters or spectators watching a game live or a replay to easily see both ancients when there is a base race. Base races are not rare things to happen, specially in very long games. As today, we watched Alliance versus LGD and they had a base race at the very end, Tobi didn't know what Ancient to focus, so we ended up with the other one actually blowing up, which is really anti-climatic.

    I have prepared a mock-up too for an easier interpretation of what could be done.

    Suggestion: Add a "base race" button for casters and spectators. What it does is simply show both ancients in the screen when it is pushed, when this hotkey is pressed again it goes back to normal perspective.

    As we can see, it becomes a lot easier to display them with this sort of screen splitting, keep in mind that this is just a mock-up, the devs can do a lot better than me and think of an even better way to show this. But what matters is the idea behind it!

    So, any thoughts?

    +1, although I'd prefer if this was sent to the back of the development list since it's basically polishing for DotaTV.

      this might happen on more games of ti3 and it would make the last seconds of a base race something really amazing to watch.

          Rendering 2 things = twice the work. Something that might work is a way to enlarge the minimap and make it go fullscreen with the ability to mouseover towers and such and see their HP.

                I think focusing on improving 95% of the games rather than 5% would be a better thing to do.

                  Indeed. Since Valve are the masters of polish and pay attention to every minor detail, I don't see why they shouldn't implement this. Sure, it doesn't get priority, but again, they have implemented other things before that also doesn't have higher priority and nobody complained. They should at least be aware of this concept so they can put it in their "to-do" list.

                        or just show HP bars? why zoom the throne? there might be someone defending at the same time and you would miss that if all you see is the throne

                          It was just a mock-up. As I said, Valve can do this a lot better and they can do it zoomed out as well. I didn't wanna go through the console to zoom out the camera so both thrones look decently far away and centered on each side. And in a base-race, where both ancients are being hit pretty hard at the same time, believe in me, what people wanna see are the ancients.

                          It's just anti-climatic if the ancient that blows up is not the one that the caster is showing. It leaves a bad after taste.
