practice having 0 delay would be AWESOME! a shorter delay for MM games would be nice, maybe in the realm of 10 seconds for that. 10 second delay is enough that it really can't be used for maphacking, but if friends are on a vent server or something, they can have the same frame of reference. for MM games, restricting view to only the visibility for the player spectated would remove the maphack problem but still allow for coaching.

you could add the coach section like how you add broadcaster section, less abuse that way

2 minutes are already enough for friends to help anti warding, having no delay could totally ruin games due to total map control.

On practice matches where people are playing to learn, this could be ok I guess

Simple and obvious things that should get fixed/added asap: SCOREBOARD, Ingame friend list, Different Ping for Roshan, Add Notes to Players, Accept Button while tabbed

for this to be implemented, i'd say the camera of the "coach" would need to be the exact camera of the player they are spectating. They would be unable to click enemy heroes to see items/mana, look around the map for what rune spawned where, etc. Then the only real information other than tips and advice they can provide is watching the minimap enemy positions.

just for custom games where everyone knows beforehand who will be spectating.

this is a must have in a game like dota, this 2 min delay sucks balls, no fun to watch a game!!!
do it like in hon with fog locked to the team you are spectating, that is perfect.
i dont want to see the other players team when i want to spectate my friend.
an everyone that says maphack etc... didnt know hon or is just a 10 IQ guy.

damn right, it's like a stream and it's definitly 100 times more fun to watch. Why not copy the good stuff from hon, that doesnt affect gameplay at all.

By the way: How it is now, it is a freaking ward maphack. I can spot all the wards 2 min later... kinda unfair + i can tell the team what items they go for, so they dont have to check that. But i know, wards arent very important in dota (no pubster has bought more than 2 wards so far), it's more a hon thing... and every dota player checks all minutes what items the enemy team is heading for.

the delay is perfect for preventing cheating, but still being able to watch the game "live". It's a very very good way to preclude stream cheating, since you can't control what people do or talk to through other means.

For coaching, you can set up a live stream and get that real time advice. You in essence are choosing to let people see you play live. But in dota2 spectating, anyone can just jump in and those that do not wish for others to skype to the other team and tell them what they're doing would not have a choice.

aka the default is no cheating. you can choose to open yourself up through live streams.

For entertainment, it makes no difference whatsoever however long the delay is.

It should be an option in practice games but not for matchmaking.

In the future maybe only the coach of a team will get the ability to see a real time match
The 2 min now are not funny for the enemy team know about the wards who are 6 min
                          And later for goblin techies!
                          Cheers

In my Opinion, there should be an option, where people can spectate their friend in Realtime, but only with the same sight of his friend. No sight to the Enemy team.
                              In HoN is this Possible.

@gwho i mean for sure u should only be able to watch the ones in ur friendslist and they have to allow the player to spectate their life game.

@PimpingPanda who cares about practice games? those are the most boring ones. If valve only does it for practice games they dont have to do the effort at all in my opinion. I dont see a reason why not enable it in MM as well.
