  • Chat possible cheat

Hi, i am sorry if i am not posting in the right place and if i am posting about something that was allready here, i used search and find nothing...

So, yesterday i logged in dota2 and my friend was just about to end his game, so i decided to wait for him and went to watch his last minutes of the game... Close to ending the game he
sent an message "lets go", i replied "i am watching you in game" (as a spectator)...

It occurred me that anyone can bassiclly cheat with this as long as you have someone to spectate for you, allmost as a maphack.
And not only that you can cheat trough dota msg system but also on, for example, vent, skype and so on...

My idea is to make live games delayed for example 3-4 mins...

    Opinions?

So you want to increase the ~2 minute delay to 3-4 minutes?

Just to extend on this, it is possible at the moment to abuse the spectator system. Since wards last for 6 minutes, the delay is 2 minutes, you can have a friend watching your game and telling you where the wards are placed. I would suggest moving the 2 minute delay up to 6 minutes to actually prevent this from happening, as it can ruin games.

A 6 minute delay would be nice for wards, but it would be bad for people waiting for the game to end to play. If I have a friend playing I often spectate their game to then play with them after it is over, with a 6 min delay I would have to stop watching prior to the last 2 battles happening.

Instead of increasing the delay to 6 mins i think they should just make it so wards aren't visable to spectators. I am not completely against the idea of a increase to the delay however many players spectate live streams and want to jump in and watch right away.

Then you can simply watch the hero that buys wards and look when the number of wards drops=he placed a ward. It's just slightly harder, yet if you really want to cheat you won't care.

This. Unless Valve want to take the long and hard road of simply making wards, including ones bought, unseen by spectators over increasing the delay to 6 minutes, they can. But it's not that big of a change to make is 6 minutes.

In the bigger picture, this wouldn't be a good excuse to not having a 6 minute delay. Your friends surely can wait an extra 4 minutes/tell you what happened. I can tell you now, I am very very tired of placing wards, only for them to be destroyed 2 minutes later (I have timed it) and with the stock CD you can't just go and replace them on a whim.

                    6 minute delay. Very simple.

                      Agreed.

I would say 5min delay however. I dont think 6min is necessary. That extra 1min wouldnt matter much. Though I believe in good faith, players should know not to cheat.

I know for a fact this happens. I was playing a game and someone on the team told everyone where the enemy wards were.. stupid. need to increase the spectation to 6 min delay

2 minutes is fine , no need to increase the delay !

6 minutes delay can improve the game, but this is not the problem. Bad players are the problem and Valve cant fix it
