  • [Bug] Spectating A Game on the Same Connection

Just went to spectate my room-mate's game and doing so disconnects him from the game and he can't reconnect even after I have stopped spectating, happened earlier this week, but didn't really think much of it till it happened again in the exact same scenario. We are able to both spectate the same game or both play, but when we go one playing one spectating the one playing gets disconnected and can't rejoin.

Well the not being able to rejoin after you've stopped spectating his game might be a bug, but not that it disconnects him when you try to watch his game on the same IP. I believe that's in place to prevent cheating.

Then again, being on the same IP doesn't really matter nowadays as someone spectating could be on the phone or other communication method with a person anyway. So maybe it's not in place to prevent cheating. It is known that it behaves that way in any case. I didn't know about the blocking reconnection though.

I suppose it's mainly to prevent ONE person from multi-gaming and cheating.

This sounds like a technical issue with your router as mentioned in the Common Issues post,
When playing together with a friend at the same location (LAN), we both can't connect to the same server at the same time.
This is generally caused by a low quality router that can't handle two different computers connecting to the same remote address using UDP while using the same source port. Please see this article for possible solutions,
