prob illegal though right? It's not that super trashy, horse racing is supported by betting in part. You could have it tournament only even. Or lan tourny only. Portion of vig can go to support the tournament prize money rest can go towards ep3 because apparently you don't have enough money to finish it or something,

No. Way too troublesome and definitely going to bring about a lot of trouble.

Well, I think this should be considered. If DOTA2 allowed in game betting, the game's popularity would increase greatly. Just imagine how much larger the DOTA2 community would be if you could make money off of betting on games; also imagine the number of tournaments that will be played then and the kind of prize money. Its an interesting concept, but I also agree with yummybui to some extent, it would cause problems and perhaps bring some unpleasant people in to the community ("win or we will break your knees..."). Also, wouldn't doing this require some specialized kind of gambling license?

Does anyone else think that Icefrog didn't make this update?

mmh, I'm not a big fan of gambling/betting to win - or lose, that is the point I dislike - money, but I can understand the thrill it brings to the actors of such an activity.
That said, judging which team is likely to win could be really interesting, and if money can't be won, surely items could be used to make it interesting.

Others applications could appear, too : sometimes I start to spectate a game where towers are kinda equal, but when I enter I clearly see a difference between the two teams... considering the relatively long download, a tool like "balance of the teams" based on bets of spectators could only increase visibility of players eager to spectate a full-of-surprises game
