  • Voice Quality is very low compared to Joindota.com stream

Before I come to the complaint: amazing work at that live feature. I can only Imagine how incredible the experience of the IT2 will be with this great feature ! keep up the good work valve

    Now to the point:
I was comparing the sound quality of the in-game stream and the joinDota.com stream because the sound level of the announcer was way to low in Dota 2. (When i Increased the soundvolume it also increased the gamesounds and vise versa but that problem has its own thread.)

However when I turned on the stream at the web page I instantly noticed that the quality of the Voice is about 10 times better than the one you provide in Dota 2.

I am not sure if this was because of me and an issue of my audio drivers or if the sound codec provided in Dota 2 just is that bad :P

anyone else noticed the big difference in Announcer voice quality ? (not the volume level)

+1 it needs to be fixed for people to enjoy the experience, currently it is better to watch the stream as even with worse graphical quality that comes from compression, the sound is simply too major of an issue to enjoy it in DOTA TV

Does it use the same skype voice technology as their other games now do? Or is it using something a little easier on the bandwith

Yeah I noticed that as well. It is my only real complain about DotaTV so far.

+1 please increase the quality/change codec, it really ruins the experience.

+1 I'm only favoring watching streams over in-client because of this, the sound quality is really unbearable.

+1, if they keep this low quality for the international, noone will watch the games in dota2.

The animation lag is kind of bearable, but the very, very low quality streamer audio isn't. Especially not when all other in-game audio is louder. DotaTV is so close to being amazing, but poor caster audio is by far the biggest setback right now.

+1 I can just about hear Tobi but when Slesh is on, it's terrible. Game needs better voice chat quality all over.

I wouldn't say "very" but true, it's lower. Would be nice to see HD voice quality here in DotaTV.

+1 caster and such should have better encoding

Bumping. Getting a bit concerned for TI2. Stream sound quality is noticeably higher quality and smoother than DotA TV, even after the new codec. Would really like DotA TV to be the completely superior option for watching TI2.
