  • Dota 2 ingame quality and PPV

I really like the move with ppv ingame watching and money to the tournament organizers, but I'm a bit concerned regarding the quality of these broadcasts. The international qualifiers had strange delays with animations, and the sound quality of the broadcasters was awful, making it nearly unwatchable.

Before I pay 4€ for this, I'd like to make sure that the quality of this is way better than the livestreams, cause to be fair I've never had any issue with watching those for free.

I agree 100% with this. The International Qualifiers was HORRIBLE to watch in-game. So please just pud it in you're to-do list and notify us in the bugfix patch that you have fixed this issue. Or just a comment on the forums about it being fixed is enough, and i'll pay you guys for me to watch in-game.

I already posted this in another thread, but: Cost on viewing it = less people viewing it = less server load = Valve can improve audio qualitiy/general quality of DotaTV.

Wow. just wow. You're telling people valve is charging for money to have less viewers so it wont lag. it has noting to do with IMPROVING the service, you are just saying they dont have a clue on how to fix it. im not surprised you're a volunteer moderator, they usually pick ass lickers like you.

I am saying that it is easier for Valve to increase the quality if there aren't 5k+ people flooding the DotaTV servers like they did for The International Wildcard qualifiers, because the load on the servers will be severely decreased.

If the quality is the same as it was on the International Qualifiers IT DOES NOT WORTH ANY MONEY... the livestreams were way better... So first please a developer should answer to this thread(or ingame so everyone can see) that the quality is INDEED good and the issues are fixed.

Bumping from a reddit discussion: http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/commen...i2_qualifiers/

Few of us would like to know there as well,

                Thanks.

Ignoring the sound quality, the animation delays was the exact same as you what you generally get when spectating with a 500ms ping.

The stream is free and can cope with tens of thousands of viewers - surely Valve need to have a solution which is - at the very least - as good as the free alternative?

Yeah, I also want to hear back about this. The messed up sound/animations really threw me off and kind of ruined the experience.
Change has kept DotA alive, evolving, and improving since 2002. And now DotA has an entire new engine at it's disposal, with infinite new capabilities.

So why are there so many DotA fundamentalists/conservatives that oppose new features, options, and information?

                        Embrace the change.

I would love it if they could add some audio options to increase the casters alone (I have maxed the voice recieve/transmit volumes). Right now i have to max out my game sound to be able to hear the casters, and when i do that, every spell in the game is even louder than the casters, and i can't hear anything during teamfights.

since you seem to have access, how about details of the lag issue and caster audio quality compared between ingame watching and the stream?
