Switching between free camera and directed/casted is too slow when the camera concentrates on a specific part of the teamfight and you have interest in a chase that's going on just outside of camera. I'd like to offer a simple solution: When you click and hold the minimap, it overwrites the caster and gives you the freedom to control the camera. When you release your mouse, the camera snaps back to the caster.

Other thing I'd like to point out is that even when a caster has opened one of the stat panels, you should still be able to close and change it at will. The caster should only have control of the opening and closing of a panel, not what is kept open. Sometimes the caster was blocking the action with the panel and sometimes I wanted to check if buyback is up but the caster forced me to see the last hits untill I changed to free camera.

    What do you guys think?

    +1 to this.

But the real problem I have with the current system it's when you want to check some hero's build/skill and click on the portraits on the top. If you are being directed by a caster, it never goes back to what he is selecting, and you get stuck with that hero view. The only way I found to reset this is enter player's perspective mode, select any hero, then go back to the caster. This is kind annoying to do everytime you just want to check something the caster is not looking at.

Hitting the Escape key resets it, found out through trial and error.

Also +1 to the stat panel control. I had to keep putting it into directed/free just so I could see the panel I wanted to view and to get rid of the huge ass one that often covered the action (im looking at you luminous ).

Would love to have some more freedom aswell. It would be awesome if you could change to free camera with a hotkey, and still use the tab even though the caster has a different tab selected. As long as an escape click resets it, and returns to the caster pov and tab.

+1 The spectate from ingame feature has great potential, but right now it is very limited. Add more to it. More liberty, more skill+cooldown info, more level/mana/hp info(sidebar), more graphs, more statistics).

And integrate somehow the vod's into it. Right now the vods for the main event are 100X better to watch than a simple ingame replay.

OP Perhaps the free camera can be given a shortcut key which will toggle between free camera and whatever you currently have. I would not agree that the caster POV "should" not have control over the side panel. I feel that given the option to have player perspectives and the ability to rewind replays is already sufficient for the spectators.
