  • Mentor System Suggestion

I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a mentor system, such as the one from Heroes of Newerth. This would be where a player on your friends list requests to mentor you, and you must approve them for them to be able to mentor. They then join your game and view only your screen, but with no time delay. They are able to point with a mentor cursor to show you where to go or what to do. I feel that this would be very instructive for newer players, and it can also be entertaining for friends without allowing the possibility of ghosting (the mentor sees only what you see).

They are working on it. There's a similar mentor system in TF2, so we have a fair idea of how Valve would implement one in Dota 2.

      just some suggestions.

      a) should be have two modes, one where you set up an appointment with a specific mentor and one where it will set you up with a mentor it thins you're well matched with like mm.

      b) you should choose things you want to work on before the tutor sesh. also, the preferred session length and type. different types would be like mm in game tutoring where your coach just watches you. Another is just practice mode with or without bots.

      c) premise group tutoring should be available. Both with multiple students or tutors

      d) for private mode, you can either request a tutor or you can set up an appointment. The client will automatically create a session for you guys at that time.

      e) mentors and students should be evaluated for pairing by how much they know, how well they taught or learned, and how well it was to get along with them. At the end of each tutoring session, you just rate your student or mentor for these categories The rating is invisible like mmr.
      f) the hidden system should take into account timeliness for scheduled apps, length of teaching sesh, number of students/mentirs who return to the same mentor/students. Essentially good students will get the best mentor's and vice versa on steam.

      g) eventually the best mentor's will be able to charge rates and then teaching dota will become a real job.
