  • Request for Match ID xxxxxx timed out.

Since today, when I click on any details button for the "The International 2014" games, I get the message

Request for Match ID xxxxxx timed out.
I don't know what happened or if I did something wrong, but yeah I get that message.

Does anyone else get this problem or knows how to solve this?

I discussed this issue with Blutsense over Steam, and I thought I best document my answer in case anybody else is having problems.

Every time you click to view information about a match in the client (i.e. where you go to download and start watching a replay) your game-client sends a "matchDetails" request to the Dota 2 back-end. To make life harder for those writing tools to interact with Dota 2's back end (people like me ) Valve implemented a rate-limit of 100 matchDetails call per 24 hours per Steam account. The problem Blutsense was having is he's gone through that limit by downloading a lot of replays and then trying to watch them, so the Dota 2 back-end is just ignoring his matchDetails requests.

If you're in a similar situation and you have replays downloaded, but you can't open the match details to start watching the replay, you can start watching the replays by entering this command in the game's console: "playdemo replays/matchid.dem". Read this to learn how to enable console.

If you don't have the replays downloaded, I've been working on a website since September to help. Click here and sign-in with Steam to download all The International 4 replays for matches played so far, and then unzip and extract them to "yoursteamfolder/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/dota/replays", and then you can use the console command noted above to play those replays.
