  • Modular Highlights Options to Increase Tournament Ticket Value

    The Problem:
I often buy tournament tickets and watch games, but cannot easily watch entire games. I find the "watch highlights" button actually misses about 50% of the important content. I often fast forward through the replays watching for the kill score to change, and then rewind a bit to watch the start of the fight. I dislike the autospeed feature as it makes the announcers annoying and I dislike the half speed slow-downs for kills. This is a suggestion to help me consume more tournament content, therefore increasing the value of tournament tickets as a product.

    Suggested Solution:
Allow checkboxes for what I consider to be a highlights.
    1. Tower kills.
    2. Hero Kills.
    3. Narrow escapes (heroes who retreat with less than 10% HP - or some other defined value).
    4. Roshan kills
    5. Smokes
    6. Ward kills

Each checkbox will take note of each time the relevant event happens in the replay. The system will then also go backwards until has been at least a 15 second gap between enemy heroes dealing damage to each other (or to the tower). Each highlight then starts 10 seconds before the action begins. There must be at least a 1 minute gap between selected highlights for the highlight system to skip forward.

I only have hero kills selected. AA kills timbersaw at the 10 minute mark. The highlight system takes note that the first time an enemy hero did damage to timbersaw was at the 9 minute mark. There is never more than a 15 second period of time between Timbersaw taking damage starting at the the 9 minute mark and ending at the 10 minute mark when timbersaw dies. The highlight system therefore starts this particular highlight at 8:50. The highlight ends at 10:05 if it is not going to start another highlight before 11:05.
