  • in game commentating for replays

Ive been thinking about this for a while, and i think it'd be really cool if there was a function to watch a replay or even live match, and using the ingame voice settings record commentary for the game while you are watching it, and that sound file is then attached to the replay and available for anyone to select and watch from inside dota2. Basically a feature to enable people to easily commentate games without having all the video/voice recording software, nor having to manually upload it somewhere. People who view the commentated games could choose to either use the commentators camera view, or free view inside the game, because sometimes you notice things the commentator doesnt, or you just want to look at items/skill build etc, while still listening to it. Popular commentators could be ranked, with top replays featured on the today page, similar to the live games.

My reasoning behind this, is that while the popular dota commentaries websites such as tobi on are great, but for the dota fanatic there isnt always enough games to watch, or perhaps you just want to watch specific teams, heroes, etc. I have often gone to watch replays, but without voice find myself getting bored, in a way i do not get in casted games. Enabling this feature would not only greatly increase the number of commentated games available to watch, from all different skill levels, it would also let more people from the community who want to get into casting games, but dont really know how to get started. This feature could also greatly increase dota2's success as an esport, having top replays to watch with commentaries in game, without requiring scouring the web for different tournaments.

This feature is already available, they just have not released it yet. They also talked about it in detail quite a while back.
